Nick6 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I thought Raffy did a good job with his car, considering the size of his opperation compared to some of the others.

The Daily Sportscar article makes it clear that this is a proposed ALMS race programme for 2011 (not a confirmed programme).

2 x LMP1........Lola, Riley and Roush Yates all mentioned, but nothing concrete (according to the article) at this stage. The intention is to run all pro driver line-ups.

Agreed, it would be fantastic to see Riley back with an LMP, especially if Roush Yates are confirmed as engine supplier.......US chassis and engine in the ALMS (even if the cars are entered by a Surrey based British team).

No details on engine size, just that it'll be a P1. Daniel Woodard's aim for the programme is for his team to become Roush Yates P1 engine development partner.

I just hope this programme actually comes to fruition. They would be a much needed and very welcome addition to the ALMS.

It was confirmed in Autosport the Roush P1 engine would be 4 a cylinder turbo.

Roush also expect two or three teams to run the P2 V6 turbo engine.

Just FYI - my policy in cases where prospective teams talk about potential plans is to report verbatim on what they are saying - I'd just add that to my knowledge Riley haven't yet talked about an LMP1 chassis, and their LMP2 proposal is, afaik, for 2012 not 2011.

I wonder if the two or three teams will all be on the US circuit or a combination of US/Europe?

Interesting.. And makes sense if the goal is continue to link it back to production cars. Ford already has a 2.0L Ecoboost 4 cylinder that is scheduled to be installed in the forthcoming US version of the current Focus which goes into production later this year.

Not saying they would use a production block, but... Ford does have the ability to cast up its own engine blocks whenever it wants... If the AER's are any indication, getting 600-700hp isn't a problem, getting it to run 24hrs at over 200mph is... But if anybody can do it its FORD.

I can only comment on existing teams not ones coming out of thin air.

Dyson has indirect links to Ford, Ford also still owns a sizable chunk of Mazda. Castrol/BP is a sponsor of John Force Racing using Ford products (body shells). BP in various forms has supported Ford teams in the past.

Drayson still has choices to make.

Depending on how Ford handles this program, you might see both US and European teams with Ford power next season.

As I have always said, you have to fight fire with fire, you will not get it done with Zytek's, Judd's or AER's. Its a nice feel good story for these boutique manufactures to be successful, but Roush-Yates has much of Ford's infrastructure at their disposal. You can likely beat the factories with a Lola chassis, but your going to need World Class Reliability and Power.

Which is going to make the Ford and HPD extremely popular.

WRO PR should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your interest in Woodard Racing's potential 2011 plans.

At the moment we are in talks with Roush Yates, Riley and Judd. With regards sponsorship deals, we are very close to finalising a deal. The companies we are in talks with are looking to use motorsport to develop alternative fuels and LEV, which will be a significant part of our plans.

We are very keen to work with Riley, they have great ambitions and a big connection with the Le Mans 24 Hour race, considering Bill Riley’s father won the prestigious race in 1967.

Should we get the budget we aim for we will be contesting the ALMS, Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and also the Le Mans 24 Hour race, with a two car team. It is correct that we are talking to a number of pro drivers who have experience at this level, and our choice will be announced in due course.

Daniel Woodard is in ongoing talks with Bill Riley, John Maddox of Roush Yates and also John Judd. However despite how far along our plans are nothing is set in stone until everything is signed and sealed.

I will keep you all updated as more information unfolds.

Leanne

Yep, a very warm welcome to 10Tenths, Leanne!

So, no mention of Lola, yet Riley (as far as Graham is aware) will have no chassis to sell until 2012 (and that's an LMP2, from what we know). Interesting.

Seems a MASSIVELY ambitious programme. Two P1's, all pro drivers, ALMS, Intercontinental Cup and Le Mans.........wow, that'll cost a bit. Your sponsors will need very deep pockets!

Anyway, the very best of luck, I've got everything crossed for you. Let's hope we see (at least some of, if not all) those plans come to fruition. Woodard Racing would be a very welcome addition to 'the family'!

Hmm, something I was dubious of ever hearing from Mr. Brown
