Terting back at SEAT in Germany:
Quote:
Peter Terting will return to the SEAT Sport team at the next round of the FIA WTCC to drive a works petrol-engined SEAT León in Oschersleben.

The 23-year old German raced for the works SEAT Sport team in 2005 and 2006 recording an outstanding reliability record of finishing 36 out of 40 races over the two years.
...
“I am very happy about returning to SEAT Sport and racing a León again and I really must thank everyone at SEAT for making this happen. I won't have the opportunity to test the before the race weekend, and with only two 30-minute free practice sessions before qualifying it won't be easy.
"But I know the team, the car, the track and the WTCC, so I have a very good feeling. When I raced the León last year I was very competitive and able to run at the front, so everything is possible.
"Rickard Rydell, who was my team-mate at SEAT Sport last year, proved in Anderstorp that you can return to the WTCC and do very well, so it might be possible for me to finish in the top three. For the moment I am just looking forward to putting on my SEAT Sport overall and getting back in the León again,” said Terting.

Reminds me - where was O'Brien at Anderstorp? Just skipping one race, or is that a more permanant departure?

Financial problems again. If he finds the money he will be back in, otherwise they'll be looking for a new driver.

Yer they should start from Brands Hatch afaik, which is only logical

O'Brien's car is going to be used by Gavin Smith in BTCC for remainder of season, though that doesn't necessarily mean Emmet's season is over since there are no more clashing dates

From the BTCC.net article on Smith:
Quote:
"But then I got a call a couple of weeks back from Paul who said an opportunity had come up." - Gavin Smith
Sounds like perhaps Emmet O'Brien has run out of his budget and Paul Ridgeway had a spare Leon sitting around !

There were rumours that Timur Sadredinov would start in Oschersleben in a Sport-Garage Seat León, has anyone heard more?

If O'Brien is not there, it would be a shame... not because of his driving talent, but he made a good show last year with his BMW always in the grass in every session, right before the place I stood

By the way, is anybody from the forum coming to Oschersleben?

Pedala back at SEAT Sport Italy:
Quote:
Massimiliano PedalÃ* will make his third appearance in this season’s FIA WTCC at Oschersleben next week

Like he previously did in Valencia, PedalÃ* will join Roberto Colciago at the wheel of the SEAT Sport Italia team’s second SEAT León car.

After his Spanish, debut the Italian driver came back in Brno to replace his team mate sidelined by a dislocated shoulder, and managed to win the first race of the Independents' Trophy on the Czech track.

PedalÃ* will join the championship again at Monza for the 19th and 20th rounds.

GR had always hoped to introduce a brand-new Leon in Germany...

Emmet's car was something like chassis 1 or 2... not as refined or light as the latest versions

There's no clashing dates, but with limited number of engines and so-on, the Leon has rule breaks in the WTCC that it doesn't have in the BTCC (13:1 compared to 11:1 compression ratios, flat floors and a weight break as far as I know) ... and what if one of them dings it? And even if there are no clashing dates, transport would be expensive. A car share like that couldn't work. Unless someone was suggesting something else and I'm talking out of my backside, as usual

It's not a car share.

Emmet O'Brien's car is now being used by Gavin Smith in the BTCC (and it hasn't just gone from Brands to Germany this weekend and back to Scotland next week!).

If Emmet is in the WTCC this weekend (if his sponsorship troubles are sorted), he'll be in GR Asia's new SEAT Leon - which brings their active car count to 5.

Well, the press release makes him sound better than he his. He's not that competitive in the German SEAT Supercopa. Seems like a pay driver.

If he has a new car, it won't be in very good condition for long if he drives like his first google hit!

Exactly what was he doing there? Such stupidity is worthy of a multiple race ban at the very least.
