Shoestring should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
MS Race Silverstone 25/26th August

The MS 1600 race at Silverstone is I see all on the 26th of August and is good news 'cos it is on the International circuit.
However what is possibly not such good news is that it is shown as 'Monoposto/MS1600 race'
Can anyone confirm/deny the 'Monoposto' bit because that is off putting for FF1600's

A Quartermaine should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi
We have had standalone races all season and i can't imagine the race will be merged with Monoposto as we have strong grids at silverstone. If in doubt give the BRSCC a call directly.

Best wishes,
Adam

I got the info direct from Carole at the BRSCC

It is billed as :- Stoneguard MRC Monoposto\BRSCC Club Formula Ford MS

Quali is 11.30
Race is 15.05

Sorry I don't know how to post the whole timetable.

As I said before it is the Monoposto bit that is a concern because that weekend there are Jedi's and all sorts of slicks and wings thing around.

Would be suprised if they merge the two as Adam says would expect a big grid for both.

Would only ever merge I am guessing with the mono 1600 and Mono 1800.

I won Mono 1600 and beat all the Mono 1800 at Silverstone last year in my standard FF1600. Mr Fern is very quick in his slick shod and kent cam engined RF89 though, might be to too quick on Int circuit.

I'll be there on Friday carving you all up in my FRenault :-)

Would certainly wreck the FF1600.

I think they can start something like 44 cars on that track so finishing early and going home to polish blazer buttons might attract some.

dont forget in the same race you will have the motorcycle engine Speads which is as fast as an F3 car as they run the tuned Suzuki engines and sticky tyres

Not necessarily.

They could run those (Mono1200s) with the Mono2000s to form one grid and then put the FF1600s and Mono1600s together with the Mono1800s wherever they fit best.

I have again checked with the BRSCC and they have confirmed once again to me that it is definitely a shared grid.
That is to say anything that is eligible for Monoposto+ FF can enter.

That's crazy. FF1600 has had good grids and great races, why add the Monoposto to the same grid? Doesn't make sense to me. They're billed as separate categories on the BRSCC website.

John,

Have you got any spare F3 slicks and also wings that we can tape on to my car for this fabulous event?

The Midlands/South has strugled with grids this year, so I can't really say it would hae good grids. The last Silverstone round attracted quite alot of eries, close or over 20. If this many enties are put in for the FF's, then perhaps the BRSCC would then split up the Mono/FF group.

I can see the Mono's racing against the FF's and it working. However when the inevitable business to lapping takes place (of the FF's lapping the backmarkers of Mono!), it could prove abit risky, many hoping that the backmarker is no numpty and pulls over in time.

Could be a hairasing race for the frontrunners.

Ian is apparently on the entry list for Silverstone. Seems a bit strange when he will be in Spain that week....

Having said that the BRSCC have confirmed it is a mixed grid, I am perplexed that this isn't reflected in the "latest news" on clubformulaford.co.uk?

Why not insist that the Ford race starts 30 seconds before or after the Mono race.

Chris was right. It is with Mono 1200s/1800s. Some of these are F3 fast, although some drivers are slower than FF1600s.

The race is also 15 mins - I thought usually FF1600 was 20 mins, but I may be wrong?

I think some have already withdrawn.

I'm going to be joining you all for this race, in the 1800 class. Looks like it's going to be a fun one - M6 @ rush hour type fun
