European Grand Prix
Bad luck to Webber - collides with JPM at the first corner and is out of the race. In the meantime, Kimi is 2.2 seconds ahead of Nick, Trulli in third. Montoya is in tenth place, Michael 12th, JV 14th (behind Karthikeyan!). Sato and Ralf have had to pit for damage-related incidents.
Chaotic start of the European Grand Prix. Heidfeld is trying to close up on Kimi, just 1.9 seconds behind the McLaren now. |

JV is going backwards - Fisco overtakes JV and Karthikeyan in the one lap, but JV cannot get close to the Jordan.

Well that is one to dread modding at 10-10ths!
A bit of a traditional first corner at this circuit. Webber locked up*, but Montoya didn't give him much room. JPM didn't allow Webber any margin for error and put himself at risk. *reminds me of something, can't remember what  * I wish we could see JPM climbing back through the field. Also well done DC! |

Button has lost spots to Rubens and JPM.
Nick has pegged Kimi's lead at approximately 2 seconds as they trade fastest laps. Trulli almost ten seconds behind Nick in third and he has DC and Alonso queueing up behind him. |

Karthikeyan is doing well to hold off JV. On the other token, JV will be disappointed to be caught up behind the Jordan, as it will compromise his race strategy of running long.

JV has passed Karthikeyan but is now trailing Monteiro by about 0.5 seconds. Sato has left the Minardis behind him and is chasing Karthikeyan, while Ralf is hammering away at Albers.

I like Webber. As a man, that is. He pulled a ludicruous move which affected the races of half the field. But to hold his hands up and admit he was totally at fault - you got to admire that.

We've just had a whole heap of pit stops and it's Alonso in the lead, who hasn't stopped yet. Along with Alonso, Button, Fisico, Monteiro, JV, Karthikeyan, Sato and Ralf haven't made their scheduled stops yet.
Kimi, already stopped, is just 5.6 seconds behind Alonso. His race pace looks outstanding again this race. |

Monteiro pits, springing JV to go chasing after Trulli, and Jacques will need to find the speed in the Sauber, with Sato and Ralf bearing down on him.

Coulthard given a drive-through penalty for pitlane speeding. Potentially a podium thrown away there.
Alonso pits and Kimi re-takes the lead, with Heidfeld moving into second place. Button also pits. JV pumping in his fastest laps of the race, now, with Sato 5.9 seconds behind him, and Ralf 1.4 seconds behind Takuma. |

Terrible race for JV - Sato and Ralf are both ahead of him after the pitstops.
Up front, Kimi is 2.1 seconds ahead of Nick, and Alonso is 15.5 seconds behind Nick. Closest battle is for sixth, with Massa leading Michael by 1.3 seconds, and JPM 1.3 seconds behind Schumi. |

I'll be interested to hear from JV after this race as to why his pace was so excruciatingly slow, especially when compared to Massa. He really is off the pace today - trundling around in times that flatter the Jordans.

Watch the knives come out for JV as he's lapped by Kimi. Kimi makes a mistake lapping JV, which might give Nick hope he can get ahead of Kimi when the Finn pits.

Kimi has a 28.9 second lead over third-placed Heidfeld, so he probably will be able to get in and out of a pitstop without losing a place to Nick. Fernando is between them, but probably needs another stop, so he'll be looking for third.
