brandspost4a should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
MGCC Brands Hatch 9/10 April

Hi everyone,

This weekend is the first MGCC meeting of the season. As usual after two major meeetings at Brands we are short of marshals. So this a plea for anyone who can come and join us on either or both days. Your help will be most appreciated.

There is a packed programme on both days with 7 practices and 10 races on Saturday an 6 practices and 13 races onSunday. A quiet couple of days then!!!!

As usual MGCC will be giving a small renumeration in lieu of lunch.

If you can come and join us the either contact either Paul Stilling, Chief Marshal (paulstilling@fsmail.net), Mildred or PM me your details and I will forward them on.

Many thanks. Hope to see you over the weekend.

Chris Johnson

I'm there all weekend. My first outing of the year; looks like being a good one. I'm surprised there's a shortage of marshals; I find that MGCC is one of the clubs that looks after us well.

I wish I could be there, but had planned something else long before.
So it will be next week for 750.

It was a good team on post 6, small but perfectly formed ...

I really enjoyed my day, including a dramatic (but I hope 'YouTube unseen') headlong tumble while running too fast behind the barrier, to an incident. The trick, as with all embarrassing moments in one's life, is to get up with as much dignity as you can muster, collect the bent sunglasses and hat from the dust and pretend that you meant to do it!

I would just like to say thankyou to everyone who turned up to marshal at the MGCC meeting last weekend. Everyone was very tolerant and made Chris and my job easier at sign on in the mornings. Thankyou especially to those who moved posts for me on the Sunday and to those who did a job different to their grade often above and beyond. Thanks again to all who attended and I hope you all had as good a weekend as I did. Sue

You beat me to it Miss H.

As Sue says, many thanks to you all. Incidents cleared with minimum fuss and my thanks to the crews on Posts 5 & 6 for "old fashioned" marshalling in getting out into the gravel and pushing the errant Honda out of the trap and back into the race. A good job.

We had great weather and great racing all weekend. Hope to see you all again during the season.

Chris

Well maybe I should have been at Brands Steve. I've never had so many rallycars crash in front of me.
Drivers even start chasing me now with sticks as soon as they see me.
Can't help it I'm afraid.

You're right Steve. He can build gravel castles if he gets bored.

Thank you to all the marshals and race officials who made our day so enjoyable on Saturday 9th. I was racing my little toy Fiat Abarth in the HRDC GT race and hubby was out in our Lancia Aurelia in the Touring Greats race. It was a perfectly run day, from signing on to race finish so thanks very much.

I don't know about you guys but while watching hubby race (with everything crossed as I was driving the car home...!) it occured to me that this might have been one of the best historic races I've seen in a very long time. Huge amounts of (clean) overtaking, lots of cars drifting and sliding (especially after the oil slick was put down) and some down right good fun being had by the drivers.

Ian, good to hear that Jim's feeling much better. I don't know the full details (only paddock talk) but it sounds like it was a scary situation for all involved. Great that there is a happy ending.

Thanks again and more of the same fun at the next HRDC meeting at Mallory!
