PiperP2 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Cooper Hume

I am looking for photos or any information on this car, was it driven by Chris Bristow? does it still exist? does anyone know any information about Ronald Wrenn or John Langton who both drove it? Any help would be very much appreciated.

The Cooper-Hume was originally a Cooper T39 centre-seat sports car. John Hume converted it into a Climax FPF-engined open wheeler, with lowered suspension and a left-hand gearchange.

According to Doug Nye's Cooper Cars: Chris Bristow drove it in the F2 race at the 1959 Crystal Palace Whitsun Meeting. it was also driven by Ian Raby in a libre meeting at Mallory Park in 1959

All I can find is reference to the fact that it was entered in 1961 in 3 non-championship F1 races under the Team Salvatore Evangelistica banner. Langton and Wrenn nominated drivers, and fitted with a Climax FPF motor.

Just been delving in the appropriate "Black Book" and come up with the following:-

Snetterton 26.3.61 Lombank Trophy (combined F1 and Inter-Continental)

Dr. John Langton Ent. R Wrenn fitted Climax FPF
Practice time 1.53.2 (15 secs slower than pole)
Retired Lap 6 - engine

Aspern 16.4.61 Vienna Cup (F1 only)

Dr. Ronald Wrenn Ent. Team Salvatore Evangelistica fitted Climax FPF
Practice time 1.20.8 (7.2 secs off pole)
Not classified (31 laps completed - 55 lap race)

Crystal Palace 22.5.61 London Trophy (F1 only)

Dr. John Langton Ent. Team Salvatore Evangelistica fitted Climax FPF
Practice time 1.07.4 (8.4 secs off pole)
Placed 11th (and last) (33 laps completed - 37 lap race)

A few results for British F2 races in 1960. All driven by Ian Raby who appears to have owned it at the time

2/4/60 Oulton Park Trophy - DNF
18/4/60 Lavant Cup, Goodwood - 9th
30/4/60 Aintree 200 - DNF
7/5/60 Oulton Park - 6th
1/8/60 Aintree - 4th
28/8/60 Kentish 100, Brands Hatch - 12th
17/9/60 Lombank Trophy, Snetterton - 10th (4th in F2)

Basically a mid-field runner
