That said, given that Henri is still saying he's waiting for tomorrow evening to confirm things I'd be happy to put an outside bet on him still lobbying for Minassian. You can see the argument. The Creation isn't as sorted as it might have been, it doesn't have the strongest lineup, and if rumours about their big financial backer having less of an involvement have any substance, there's probably a question about ongoing development of the car. By contrast Pescarolo have probably the most mature package out there and are emphatically on a high having won three on the bounce. Okay, Nic might feel some loyalty to the squad that stood by him for so long, but compared to a chance at the big one (and who knows, will Jules be back for the rest of the season? and is there any reason why Henri couldn't shift to a three-driver line-up for the rest of the LMS?) and an opportunity to set out his stall for next year (Peugeout works drive anyone?) I'd be tempted - not sold admittedly - but certainly tempted. |

The intrigue for me in this driver 'merry go round' is where Warren Hughes fits in to the equation. He's given up his (guaranteed) LNT drive to pursue a prototype drive, but appears (at the moment) not to have one..........?? |

Indeed strange position of Hughes.
Why is there a Kronos (Belgian team which runs the semi-factory Citroëns in WRC) sticker on the front spoiler of the Gordon Porsche? |

Yep, but we've got the return of two 550's to make up for it!

More changes afoot:
Minassian in at Pescarolo, Jamie Campbell-Walter in at Creation, Christophe 'Poo-shoe' Bouchut sent home sans dejeuner. |

Creation were never going to have the speed to challenge the Audi's and Pesca's with Gabbiani and Ortiz in the line-up. So, whilst I'm gutted to see Nic out of the car I'm absolutely delighted JCW's now got a drive at Le Mans. Taking the philosophical approach, Creation's chances in the race have barely changed as a result of this.
Go JCW!!! |

So Bouchut is without a seat for Le Mans? He gave up his Cirtek Aston Martin seat for the Pescarolo and now he is unemployed. That must be a bummer for him.

I'm amazed Pesca has dumped Bouchut. A past winner (like Helary (both in 93) who is obviously in favour). The guy was doing decent times on Sunday. Surely Christophe must have expected to retain the seat? Is Minassian that good?

Bouchut is a great driver but has not driven a prototype for ages. It took JCW several races to get on to Minassian's pace and Pescarolo does not have that kind of time. Similarly, JCW was considerably faster than Minassian at Spa in the 550 Ferrari. I think, therefore, it is horses for courses.
Minassian is pretty special--althought the car is also very good. According to Creation's website, it did not set a representative lap time owing to some problem with the fuelling. Apparently some other teams had similar woes. Ironically, Bouchut had similar pace to Gabbiani in the Creation car so I can understand the Pescca move. JCW dicing wheel-to-wheel with Minassian. That will be fun to see. |

I thought Bouchut got down to 33s on Sunday - he presumably wasn't given the chance to go for it like Montagny..... Hell, the guy won Le Mans in a "rocketship" 905 in 1993. He knows how to drive, drive a fast car and get it to the finish line. I certainly place him a jot higher in my estimation that Gabbiani and Ortiz. If I'd been Pesca I wouldn't have looked any further......

From what I heard, Bouchut was lapping in the mid to low 40s--although it could have been on old tyres (or instructions etc).
This year's race pace looks likely to be 'hot'... well into the 30s bracket. |
