There was a similar thread not too long ago: http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66528 (although it concentrated on engines and teams). As 312T4 didn't start that I think we'll be alright carrying on with this one (especially as mabs started both!).

Do we know that Sauber will change its name to BMW.

josvandeperre should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Can I start the Davidson to Williams with a Honda engine supply rumour - that would enable BAR to keep Button and Heidfeld will end up back at Sauber with Massa perhaps replacing Rubens (who could retire) - possibly even swopping so that Jacques (sadly) gets pensioned off

This all presupposes there is F1 next year - can I get odds on this season being completed ?

I don't think that fisi will see another year at Renault. Alonso is the favourite son, and I can't see Fisi agreeing to be a number two for another year. My guess is he'll end up at the new BMW team. Barichello is done at Ferrari - its Massa's turn.

Can't see Villeneuve being retained at Sauber/BMW, somehow. He hasn't sparkled and I think BMW will have other candidates in mind. My best guesses are as follows:

Ferrari - M. Schumacher/Barrichello
Renault - Alonso/Kovalainen or Montagny
BAR-Honda - Fisichella/Sato
Williams-Cosworth - Webber/Button
McLaren-Mercedes-Benz - Raikkonen/Montoya
(Sauber-)BMW - Heidfeld/Massa
Toyota - R. Schumacher/Trulli
Red Bull-Ferrari - Coulthard/Liuzzi
Midland-Toyota - Monteiro/Dominguez
Minardi-Cosworth - Albers/Friesacher

Big change doesn't seem all that likely, at least on the outside. I suppose the biggest story will be where Button and Heidfeld end up and if Fisichella and Jacques manage to keep their seats.

Renault won't let Kovalainen go to BMW. No way.

Had forgotten about Team Dubai. If it appears, Wurz or de la Rosa might be strong candidates.

Am I missing something? Why do so many of you see Barrichello with BAR next year? I agree that it is very unlikely that he will remain with Ferrari but what is the source of the info or rumours that he would join BAR?

Nowhere maybe. The only place other than Ferrari where I would have seen him was Red Bull but that one has now been assigned to DC. Middland / Jordan might also be a possibility.

BMW might snap him up to partner Heidfeld. That would be a strong line-up, and Barrichello would bring a wealth of experience of a big team.

Rubens has indeed quite a lot of experience being the no. 2 of a German teammate.
