Unless it has a shorter stroke...

I don't know what size it is but I do know it sounds great, and much better than I thought it would, especially popping and crackling on the over run. I don't miss the old Toyota so much now.

Whoa Oreca should somehow engineer the chassis livery spots and sponsor logos to glow like this permanently at night next year, would make totally up for the otherwise unnecessary Porsche copycat splashes

Nice flash!

Flash also GREATLY highlights the otherwise pretty non existent looking Rebellion timepiece, you know the thing actually produced by the company! I hadn't really even noticed it previously...

I've been trying to find a comment from Rebellion on why they aren't doing the Nurburgring test sessions, but haven't find any info anywhere. It's strange to see obscure little Kolles gang there but not the stalwarts of the class. Maybe they have closed out private testing going on or planned for later somewhere like Nissan or whatever. Or they don' t bother to spend some money on testing because they know there's not much to go for in the post LM period. Anyone have news?

“[Rebellion Racing team owner] Alexandre Pesci wants to set up a structure that would include LMP1, LMP2 and LMP3. There’s also interest in going to the U.S. The category is interesting because you can fight for the overall win.

So Rebellion still has the desire for such thing, but ACO (and IMSA) have closed every door that existed for such thing.

Anyway I guess it could be kinda neat to have the Rebellion running Oreca-R-One in LMP1, Rebellion-Morand' Oreca-05 in LMP2, and Rebellion-Morand Oak-"Ligier" in P3.

Just noticed Rebellion retweeting USCC 2016 schedule and the name/sponsor change. Maybe it's nothing, maybe connected to the above posts and the news article. Obviously no taking the R-One anywhere unfortunately but perhaps some NAEC with 05, in conjuction with Morand...

Yeah, I would think that’s the idea, take a Morand car or two to the big IMSA races and run them with an all pro driver lineup. That could make for a very competitive package…

Yes I would think it to be quite competitive if it were to happen in 2016. In 2017 with vanilla ACO specs probably not quite so, because of the inevitable favoritism towards US OEM packages

I mentioned Oreca 05 there, but obviously Morand has yet to decide whether to continue with the ancient Oak Pescarolo or to made that switch to 05. But if they were to unite with Rebellion I can't see it being anything more than 05 to bring up the linkup between the two teams.

Would be interesting to know if it was Morand or SARD that caused that particular collaboration to end (maybe it's been said somewhere but I haven't noticed it). You know, in case this potential relationship ever goes that route

Rebellion loves their monthly public display outings. This random Shell parking lot must be the roughest piece of surface the R-One has ever sit on (since it hasn't visited Sebring of course :P)

But more importantly, look how tiny these modern LMPs are in comparison to family wagons!

You'd think the R-One to win on road, but if they were not racing illegally or in some closed off road section, but instead obeying real life traffic rules, the R-One couldn't go any faster than the slowmobile due to speed limits. Also it would ultimately lose due to having to refuel more often. Would they even have proper fueling rigs in service stations? And the racing Michelins would melt down too

Even if they could go at unlimited speeds and shorter distances, the R-One would only win outside winter, and even then they'd hope for no rain and perfect road surfaces.

Anyone seen the Ultimate Speed Comparison demonstration shows during the Australian GP? They release street tuned car, V8 Supercar and F1 on timed intervals to make it roughly equal finish to the lap at the end, yet the F1 ultimately always wins at the end despite leaving the last. Couple of years ago they timed it wrong (or the drivers messed up) on one of the sessions and the slow street car actually won They should do more of those around the world.

I remember one at Silverstone at about the turn of the century? David Coulthard was in the MP4 and I think Hakkinen was still driving for McMerc at the time, so 98-99-00 more or less. IIRC it was a (then new) A-Class versus a typical C-Class (precursor to the AMG/Black cars) versus the F1 car. I think the A-Class took almost 4 minutes to do the lap...

The party's lovely. Everything obviously turned out fine but...
Instead of wasting time with this Shell appearance, Rebellion should have been testing. Their problem isn't emotional. It's administrative.

It probably isn't a case of chosing to do promotion or testing first. This didn't replace a test or delay a test.

The question I'd still like to know is if they actually have been private testing by themselves after skipping the Ring test for unannounced reasons. They've usually not been very secretive about these runnings so it could be zero running...

At least Chiana knows how to read between the lines...
Rebellion's commitment is below par this season. And we're not stabbin' them in the back.

Actually, I'm not sure if this statement is correct. Oreca taking million years to mod the AER configuration for R-One earlier this season was beyond Rebellion's own influence, and as for the team quite potentially having done nothing productive after Le Mans, well... even in that case, can they be blamed? For the moment there's really not much incentive to improve for these reasons

A) Gap to factories isn't gonna decrease by decisive amount even with 500 years of testing and upgrades
B) Better own performance would likely lead to crappier EoT allowances, so it could be counter productive perversely
C) Kolles is non threat
D) Other privateer candidates are still either in the planning stage or in theoretical level of considering
E) Le Mans is 10 months away
F) WEC sub trophy is already technically sealed, we all know it, and there are no other targets with the existing gaps so they can place in "whatever" positions with half hearted efforts
G) They can't race anywhere else like they could have in 2008-2013 so no preparations needed for such
H) Testing and parts cost money you don't want to spend if there's no ROI

The only thing I would do in their shoes would be to rent a circuit for continuous 24-30+ hour test like the factories do, in order to search for better overall reliability for Le Mans next year, that area has kinda started to go backwards in the last couple of years. Then when 2017 starts approaching and if we get proper privateer battle, then think more of the performance side.

Meanwhile, the previously mentioned Morand LMP2 co-operation and potential LMP3 for the creation of "Rebellion Ladder" could be places to put resources to.

I so wish Rebellion could just have the R-One in ELMS, and I'm sure they'd agree

I don't know how reliable this site is (maybe it's just their opinion? rather than actual info), and if the german text filtered through english translate makes it right, and it is couple of weeks old, but it seems to say that Rebellion didn't go to the July test because they feel AER is running smoothly and additional data is not required. Kolles on the other hand had new aero components, and obviously their car is bit of nightmare all things considered

http://wec-magazin.de/bykolles-laess...-unterkriegen/

For Rebellion that'd probably mean no running since June

little german comprehension help (nitpick):
it's not that rebellion thought they don't require any more data because their AER was running smoothly, but because their "car equipped with the AER" was running smoothly.

Also, ByKolles was not only testing new aero parts (and drivetrain/power unit work), but also develop a better understanding of the car.
It seems rebellion indeed feels comfortable in that department...

I also agree with your statement, Chiana, what is there for them to gain? Nothing. ByKolles won't be a threat no more this season, and there's no one else to contest. Next year, same game (even with new arrivals). 2017? they might have to work some more to keep the "rebellion lmp1 trophy" which is cast in concrete at their HQ.

If CLM is reliable they could challenge Rebellion. They werent without issue at LM so theres still a question on that for both teams.
