Best place/bad place to shoot

In this topic you can share your photography experience around the circuit and particularly talk about the best or worst place to take photos.

By experience, if the sun in shining, FORGET the Mulsanne curve at morning (Legend racing, demonstrations...) because the light is very bad (the sun is in front of you) :

So, photos between the high fence and the little barrier was nice immediately near the Dunlop bridge. It was not legal, but tolerated. Now, it's explicitly forbidden

And you, what are your recommandations or good plans for photo ? According the position of the sun (good places for sunset) etc . For the sunrise, Dunlop or Tertre Rouge are good places.

Depends what time you choose to do it.

During peak hours it should be forbidden given the public are stood behind the small barrier. Back when we didn't have grandstand tickets we had the ridiculous scenario of setting up early on the barrier in 2012, only for people to stand directly in front at the fence, somehow thinking that was acceptable. They got moved on 30mins into the race but it definitely took the gloss off the start.

It's not the best circuit for photography but there are a few unrestricted views.

Cheers for that. For such a long circuit, it's become really bad for finding good viewpoints. I like the shot from the Ford chicane exit heading up the main straight and looking up towards Arnage but I've never found anything unique there (more a comment on me as a photographer than the circuit).

For an alternative view, I thoroughly recommend Dan Bathie's Le Mans in Instagram: http://issuu.com/lendurance/docs/lemansininstagram
No panning shots of cars, but a real story telling through images with a lot of emphasis on the event and crowd.
