Senna & Prost - I think you need to look at who's missing from your poll. Fangio & Moss?

Clark and Graham Hill in 1967 in the Lotus 49. When the car was reliable, they were unbeatable. Pity that Clark was taken so early in 1968 as that surely would have been one of the greatest inter-team battles at Lotus....

27 Alesi, 28 Berger, that's how I'll always remind them, at Ferrari...
but the most competitive one was either Prost/Senna... and the most heated rivalry would have been Gilles/Pironi, if Gilles had lived... (even though Gilles would never crash intentionally, like Senna or Prost) |

Amongst the three given parings, Rubens and Michael are comfortly the best.
In recent years, only the Villeneuve-Frentzen pairing comes close, but it only lasted one year. By the way, I fail to see how a couple that lost with Ferrari against Schumacher's Benetton in '93, '94 and '95, before losing with Benetton against Schumacher's Ferrari in '96 and '97, can be considered as "best driver pairing ever". |

I voted for Schumacher/Barrichello, but the best driver pairing I consider Schumacher/Irvine. Alesi and Berger was indeed a lovely pairing but unfortunately was far from being best. Not at Ferrari not at Benetton. |

Prost and Senna only crashed once while being teammates. They were smart enough not to crash more often while competing the hardest, and that's why I prefer them to Schumacher-Barrichello |

Jordi, they were great individuals. Not a pairing.

According to the list of names in this poll, I've been watching Formula 1 ever since it began in 1993.
No Senna / Prost, the most successful pairing ever over a season? No Clark / Hill, where a world champion was the recognised number 2? No Moss / Fangio, the pupil and the master? I've got to say Clark adn Hill, because they worked so well together and were such great friends off the track. |

I'll put in a nod for Jackie Stewart and Francois Cevert. Stewart was the unparalled master and Cevert the young inexperienced though quick driver. By the end of their final season, 1973, Cevert was as quick and as crafty as his mentor. Cevert's death robbed us of France's first WDC and Jackie Stewart of his best teammate and his best friend.
