Looking at these historic pictures of Historic cars, they could have been taken today although some images are nigh on twenty years old.
Maybe that is the appeal of Historic Racing - constancy in a changing world. You can tell the year by looking at contemporary cars as they change annually and their fortunes wax and wane. But Spa 2020 can easily be a rerun of Spa 2018, or 2016. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk |

A great year for me & this was one of the best races albeit only on the national circuit. Delta & I had shared the car all year (I think this was the year that started at Thruxton with the infamous tail-lift incident) but the final was only a 20min sprint which had to be done by the owner. I had to beat the ex-Tandy E-type pictured to clinch the Guards class championship and we swapped places all through the race. I eventually took the flag, just. Great pics Baub, thanks very much.

I think there's only one phrase for that - all together now - HAPPY DAYS!
Sounds a hoot, what we all go racing for. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk |

Here's a little extra just to prove that Gerard is not the only Frenchman to spin at Silverstone |

Ah......memories!
L to R, the Mk2, my first race car known as the teapot due to a habit of exploding in a cloud of steam as soon as you slowed down to come in. Looked a bit like my mum's old china teapot too. It was an ex-rally car, heavy as a tank. Last heard of winning its class in the Tour Britannia around 2010. The XJS belonged to a friend who let me borrow it while the teapot was having an engine rebuild, only did one undistinguished race in it but would have loved to do more. After much modding for track days I believe it's out racing again with a new owner. Then the S-type, the most reliable race car ever. Ran it for years with only 3 DNFs as far as I can remember - first a broken throttle cable, then lost the brakes after a fluid change and lastly the idiot driver forgot to put the bonnet pins in. All at Snet on different days. The car is now back with the original owner and comes out occasionally. Thanks for the pics Alf! |

Boissy at wheel! As often the case there's an extra strange detail in your pic: the Matra driver attitude watching what's happening…

I bet not many recognise the 'G' Type ERA, RB, developed by ERA at Dunstable to become the Bristol Le Mans cars. Back in the 50's and early 60's you could see the ERA factory from the A5 through Dunstable.
I interviewed Stirling on a couple of occasions when 'working' for BBC Three Counties Radio, and if I can find a way of putting one of them on the web I will post a link. |

To go with the Siirling Moss pictures above, I have this from what must have been one of the last Silvestone Classics that I attended. I assume the co-driver named on the door is related to a Tenther
And if Colin McKay is looking in - check your PMs |

Ooh that's just jangling a bell at the back of my mind. Remind me. Evening racing was it at Silverstone?

2008 May/August/October. Short lived series which was a shame as going motor racing on a summers evening was a nice way to end a day. These from May 20o8; |

And something to do after having driven over to Northampton to test drive and purchase a new (to me) car one afternoon.
