drbob should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
[QUOTE=andy97;4189855]Merry Christmas everyone.
I see Dr Bob has an Escort up for sale:

Sadly, Santa (or Mrs97)

Good news. Now sold in Oz.

Guess I will have to start looking for, and dropping hints for my wife to ignore about, suitable alternative targets then!!!

I totally agree with that. We tend to come twice a year now to the same rental cottage, firstly for a week in October, then back again for a week at Christmas.
Two years ago we decided to try somewhere else and headed diagonally opposite to the North East and have now also fallen in love with the Northumberland coast which is just how Cornwall used to be, but bigger (especially the beaches) and nowhere near so many precocious type tourists! We usually go up there May time...

I've never been to either Cornwall or Northumberland & don't suppose I ever will now, but even my myleoved Norfolk is becoming totally over-crowded now with tourists, seemingly year round, many of them the Chelsea set - we've got Amanda Holden & Les Dennis to thank for that! It is now far from the idyllic place I grew-up in, and any thoughts of a possible return to live have been completely dispelled.

Nevertheless, I am more than happy to stay here in the Pas de Calais, and the Cote d'Opale especially is the equal of Norfolk - I can't understand why the illegal immigrants don't want to stay, but I am quite happy for them not to do so!!

May be they find that there are already too many Brit migrants in your wondeful Pas de Calais area (translated by "no more Calais here)!

Same here in Spain, we often see the small boats come in and land on the local beaches. normally it's a dozen young men that just jump out and run up the beach and disappear. They then make their way to France and presumably catch the next rubber dingy to the UK as Spain won't give them anything at all. These all come via North Africa as it's a short trip across the straights of Gibraltar and then just hug the coast up until they find a suitable beach to land on in Spain. The police don't even bother with them as they know that they won't be staying !

Do you suppose some government agency is selling second hand rubber boats back in France?

Iain, I read elsewhere that it had technical problems; not certain if that was in qualifying or the race, but I think that it was the former.

I think we only saw it in practice where it came round sans left hand door. Programme says Sunbeam Stiletto / Ray Rowan.

Raced the Boxing Day Brands in 1978 (FF1600) and 1979 (Libre). The '79 Libre race was the last on the programme and I somewhat luckily won it in my first time out in an FF2000! "The Last Race of the Decade"! Must try and find the Autosport photo of the start...

Was it on the Indy or GP circuit. I guess it would have been the Indy circuit, as that would have been better logistically, but you never know

Viv, if you are strolling along the seafront, and see this chap, stop and say hello, he is hoping to see you.

Delta, if you see a really ugly git with a dog, shout here Nobby, and the dog will come - if it is VivaGT.

If not, run like hell!

Thanks as always for your help & advice Baub which has been sorely missed.
Unfortunately acting on information I gave him good old Delta headed into Padstow today. A change of plan suggested by the boss meant we went to another town about 5 miles away, so Iain remained safe... (Nobby was however still on full alert just in case).

Sorry to if let you down Bob . The rendezvous just did not happen. Spent a good time in the pub looking out for Viv wearing a tenths badge . Mrs Delta and family were getting excited about this meeting . Enjoyed the day apart from awful pasty . Never mind the beer was good. I will sign off now and wish you all Happy 2024 .
