Sounds like a bad move to me Iain. As far as I could tell the huge success of this year's auction was down to your uncanny skill at naming the buyer (and the price) before they'd even bid

Iain,
What's the date for the 2012 event? Need to make sure I can come well in advance after letting you down this year! |

What exactly is a Duelathon apart from fighting athons?
Edited, I wasn't trying to be too pedantic but I thought if I start training now, if it's not a sillyfitathon you never know. Last edited by Tim Falce; 24 Dec 2011 at 16:03. |

20k cycle ride followed by 5k run. Last year it was two hours of sheer, unadulterated hell. I thought I was quite fit, cycle 20k in under 50 minutes, run 5k in well under 30 minutes, no sweat. I should have read the small print..."off road".
As a confirmed roadie, singletrack cycling and forest running are totally alien. I have never, ever, been so tired in all my life, and that was just halfway through the bike ride! If you practice in treacle going up the side of a mountain you'll be somewhere near the effort required. The star of the show was Mike B, can't believe someone living somewhere as flat as Norfolk shinned up those hills like a mountain goat! Great fun though. Well worth getting fit for. You ought to join Delta and me in his local 10k on 8th January as a warm up. No it's not sillyfitathon, if a tub of lard like me can do it anyone can! |

I could probably get up to the 5K run but I doubt I'd manage a 20K ride especially off road. I just about managed 3 miles last summer, first half uphill but luckily the rest was downhill or flat and this was all on the pavement, plus I don't have a suitable bike. Think I'll pass.

FYI I had a meeting with the Craven Motor Club last Wednesday evening. I was actualy quite nervios as this famous rally club "Richard Burns" was a member has a lot of history and I was pitching up with cap in hand to ask for advise and help run the regularity run.
I needed of not, as we all got on very very well especialy after the first couple of beers. Any way they are well up for helping us and have set about mapping a route straight away. Castrol have a research laboratory a few miles away and they are keen to come on board with us next year so the plan is too start the cars from their car park and have a 20 to 30 mile route up to Stoke Row. Its going to be a busy weekend. |

Bit of an update for all those interested in coming across on June the 3rd. My friends at Craven Motor Club have finnished the route for the group assembly run this year. They have done a fantastic job but we can only cater for 30 classic, sports or vintage cars. There are around 20 spaces left so if anyone interested please PM me or book direct on the stoke row motorsport day web site please. Above are a few pics from last year in the rain. |

Excellent Tim. Not sure what to take- but if a certain ex-racer Iain suggested is attending will probably be an Escort!
Hey Iain,I assume the catering will be up to usual standard- in which case will need to go on a starvation diet for a couple of weeks beforehand.... BTW Steve N will be in Autosport this week- 'Race of my life' (inside back page) |
