Looking forward to this race on the strength of practice. Looks like it will be the closest Le Mans since Porsche left the LMP1 class

It was so cool to get my first laps round here today, fuel pump issues in the first session unfortunately but the rest of the day went better, qualified P34 out of 89 cars…just need some more top speed

Good point, and this is specific to the #22. Hanson almost always starts the race, and while his starts have improved this year (e.g. Spa), he's still not the best at them (e.g. Monza).

201Kmh today, feels a lot quicker though in one of those! I found the slow corners the trickiest today, especially mulsanne corner

Does anyone here know how each driver is identified as onboard a car? Do they carry some kind of device?

There's a transponder in the helmet that identifies which driver is in the car. When the car passes a sector line or the finish line (depending on the circuit), timing updates to show the new driver in the car.

It's not perfect mind, there will be at least a couple of transponder errors during the race.

Whoops, I forgot to mention that. You're right, it still needs plugging in first. Usually the first thing the driver does when their belts are done.

I had just walked into the room when the Toyota was going into the garage, and I thought I heard the announcers say that it was tire smoke and not anything related to the brakes. But I might have misheard or they could have been talking about something else
