SOL FIA rated helmets

Guys, my helmet is just a bit used and i was thinking of an upgrade. I'm considering this helmet (image attached below). It says it's FIA rated, how can I be sure of this. I realize it's not one of the famous helmets such as Arai or Bell, trust me I would opt for those brands, if only I had the money. Anyways would you guys recommend I get it, or wait a bit longer, save a bit more money and get an Arai, or bell?

Check under the lining for a label, is there anything in there?

Just looking at your other threads I see you're karting, although car racing standards are normally higher than karts for overalls etc, you'd better check to see if it includes Snell as karts do have their own rating, equivalent here would be K2005 I think.

This is most likely a helmet manufactured by Beijing Rodia (http://www.chinahelmet.com.cn/). These helmets are floating around under thousands of different names.

You can check if the FIA8858-2002 (HANS) certification is legit on the FIA website (FIA > English > Sport > Regulations > Drivers' Equipment).
You can check also if the SA2005/SA2010 certification is legit on the Snell Foundation website. Snell does buy certified helmets on the open market and tests them continuously, so if the manufacturer were to decide to save costs by building cheaper helmets after certification Snell would revoke the certificate.

I bought this helmet two years ago and asked the seller before who manufactured it. This allows you to check with the available documents if it is really certified.

Market prices here have been 270-330€ for the SA2005 version, but be aware that there is a SA2010 version now for the same price.

If you want some decent advice - avoid that helmet. I would certainly save and spend my money on a handmade product like an Arai or Stand 21 helmet.

it would be helpful to the OP and others if you could back that opinion up with some reasons.

Ahem. And available from certain Tenths members. The helmet pictured is the shell used by Hedtec for the HANS post equipped Demon.
