I am reliably informed by an ex-team mate of Gonzo's that he never got a chance to test an F1 car, but if he had, he would've whipped Schumacher's @ss.

Gonzalo Rodriguez was a very good driver, I think he could be the best Rioplatense(*) driver of the moment if he was alive now.
His British F3 and F3000 campaigns were brilliant, also his CART entries showed some flashes of his talent. In his hommage last year was an event at Punta del Este (Uruguay) where was a kart race and an auction to obtain funds for charity purposes. Last year I got the pleasure to contact some of his friends, who are looking for material about Gonchi. This is my drawing as an hommage: http://www.speedsportmag.de/speedsport/img/gonzomem.jpg (*)Rioplatense: Of the Rio de la Plata, what is a river who is the boundary between Argentina and Uruguay. This term is used when one is talking about something what involve these two countries. |
