I did read on Mike's site that the ACO have been looking in to it, but unless they feel that it's gotten too far out of control, they won't do anything perhaps until at least the 2014 rules get published...

From the photo, the Pug looks nasty, but unless there's tub damage, it should be fixable even if it requires an all nighter.

That being said, it did damage the barrier where both the Pug and the HPD hit, and why the session was aborted.

And interestingly enough, the #2 Audi that went off in the first session ran the fastest time.

It's fixable unless it went very heavily into the wall and pushed the engine into the back of the tub. That's what killed the crashed AF Corse Ferrari at Le Mans last year.

Damn him precisely for the second reason. He's been far too rash sometimes in his driving to be honest, he's binned the car and binned another car as well in the shunt.

Right now it's irrelevant though, hopefully Mike Newton is okay.

EDIT: Tweet from Radio Le Mans saying Mike has been taken in for further scans and is complaining of back pain, but no major injuries it seems. http://twitter.com/#!/specutainment/...83447508553728

Further edit: #9 Peugeot will be repaired in time for tomorrow's first practice session. http://twitter.com/#!/peugeotsport/s...84741581369344

An update on Mike via the Radio Le Mans Twitter feed -

"Mike Newton off for scans and suffering lower back pain but remarkably no serious injury it would seem, Car VERY 2nd hand more later."

Well, the accident caused damage to the retaining barrier where both cars hit, so it was a very big off.

Was that pompus **** Ant Davidson who forced the Corvette wide thru the Porsche Curves which ended that cars chances. His interview afterwards about it really doesnt put him in a good light....

I never mentioned Peugeot

All that aside I am actually hoping for a Pug win at Spa and LM this year, kinda over Audis always winning (and who doesnt like an underdog win?)

Never mind, wanted to place a smart reply and failed to think of one.

EDIT: Have Montagny, Sarrazin or Pagenaud rammed cars off the road while in a Peugeot?

Yeah it's not like Pat Long would do something like that at Sebring a few weeks ago...ohh no...wait...

Seriously, this finger pointing is completely silly.

To be honest, Montagny has run cars--including his own--off the road plenty of times. When he drove for AGR, there were three races in a row (Mid-Ohio, Road America, and Mosport I think) where he was involved in accidents with GT cars, and as recently as Spa last year, he drilled the KSM Lola, and only getting the Pug back to the garage before the red flag due to the power outage saved that car's race.

I'd give Franck some linency, aside from the fact that he's driven prototypes for over 10 years now.

Exactly, it is the driver and not (at least in LM racing) the team that should be held responsible for crashing. Peugeot tends to hire recent Grand Prix drivers, which can be both good and bad.
