Masarati 'Supercar' Querie
I see some manufactuers have been 'arguing' about the new Supercar regs, due to be discussed this week I believe.
The problem arises from the fact 'Supercars' have to retain certain standard parts, including the floor. This however would give the Masarati a significant advantage over the flat bottomed 'GT' cars such as the 575GTC as the Masarati has sophisticated under car aerodynamics in its road car form. Any news on the GT regs meeting, including discussions to increase the speed of the GTS cars for overall wins and the standardisation of FIA and ACO GT rules. |

Interesting...
The F360 has tunnels in road trim and is required to run flat-bottomed in the ALMS. |

That's one reason why the Porsches are superior to the Ferrari in ALMS:
-> the Porsche hasn't the best undertray in an aerodynamical point of view, so they have a benefit over the Ferrari (which is punished by this rule). In FIA-GT there is no rule like this, thus Porsche/Ferrari are more equivalent in terms of speed. Concerning the Maserati: I'm pretty sure that the FIA will quickly invent a certain underbody-standard if the Maserati gains a special advantage there (FIA also punished some Prodrive-Cars because of being too fast; albeit there just were consistent...) |

well what the cadillac LMP did to get araound this problem if memory serves correct they had a false flat bottom. the tunnelling under car was still available and air entered through the front and from around the wheels, out to the back- now the flat bottom was mandated so they had a carbon sheet or something cover the 'tunnels' when inspected from the bottom, only to still have air channeling through the under side any way. I don't know how much this helped, as they were never dominators but we'll never know if it would after some development.

This meeting is, in part, to agree on a worldwide standard for ACO/FIA GTs in the near future so some of these differences can be ironed out.
