Practice times from Mallory in 1975
Hello. I'm new to this but can anyone help me? My name is Tony Shaw and I raced in the Touring car Championship in 1975 in a Camaro. I'm looking for the practice times from Mallory park early season (march) when I had a big shunt at the esses towards the end (I think)

Presume you're referring to the RAC/Southern Organs National Touring Car Championship race?
According to Autosport 13/3/75: 1= Richard Lloyd (7.4 Camaro) 1m 2.8s 1= Stuart Graham (5.7 Camro) 1m 2.8s 3 Tony Shaw (Camaro) 1m 3.4s before going off 4= Tony Fall (2.8 Opel Commodore) 1m 3.8s 4= Gordon Spice (3.0 Ford Capri) 1m 3.8s 4= Holman Blackburn (3.0 Ford Capri) 1m 3.8s Do you need more? |

Good stuff!
Hello Tony. You were keeping good company! Looks like it was going well until the shunt (I hope it wasn't too bad). Any other stories from around then. Always looked fun. |

Tony, welcome to the forum.
If I recall, your Camaro ( and Capri before that ) were yellow? Did you also race John Burbidge's modsports E-type in the early 70s or is that another Tony Shaw? Looking at the practice times above and wearing my anorack (!) I have the programme here and note the lap record was a 56.6 set by Richard Lloyd in '72. Fastest lap in the race was a 59.4 ( according to my scribble in the prog) set by Stuart Graham's Camaro. Was it wet? I can't remember but David's Autosport report may answer the question. I have also scribbled next to your name 'DNS' due to your shunt, which I don't remember. But what an entry! Eleven Camaros, Lanfranchi's Hemi Cuda, 5 Capris and 3 Commodores and that is only the big classes. |

I was at that meeting p-----d it down all afternoon. Do n't recall much about the Group 1s, but the Atlantic was good. Richard Morgan won in Wheatcrofts Chevron B29, I think Brise second, my favourite, Jim Crawford don't remember. Still got the programme, still barely dried out !
