Would you watch a Supercars series without Holden or Chevrolet?
Simple question.
I feel like Supercars administration have been quite fixated on this, with "Holden" seen almost as a sporting team -- apparently favoured by many who watch Supercars -- rather than as a car manufacturer. Yet the car manufacturer is no more, and the potential replacement, the Chevrolet Camaro won't be continued by General Motors either. If there is no General Motors product in Supercars (but instead say a Ford Mustang vs BMW 8 series rivalry), would that bother you and would you still watch the series? |

When I marshalled at Surfers I was told by my fellow marshals I needed to pick a side, Ford or Holden.
"I drive a BMW". I replied, "why would I choose one of them?" |

I watch F1 with no holden and ford.
Soon we will have no choice. I guess as long as the racing is quick, competitive and local we should be happy |

That's what they said
I did get the one with working indicators. In fact, I think I've got the only car of any make in this country with working indicators, except for the few that indicate left just before the junction before the one they're leaving at. |

Yes I would keep watching, it’s never been about brands for me, let’s be honest both Ford and Holden have made largely dreadful cars over the last 30 years when compared to Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Saab, Volvo, Jaguar etc. So I’ve never heard any interest in or allegiance to Ford or Holden.
It’s the quality of the racing and the fact that the cars are powerful and RWD that keeps me interested. |

The teams should be the focus. Based in Australia. Filled with Australian employees. A lot of subcontracting done within Australia. It's really something to be proud of. Having manufacturers front and center creates this facade that the tribalist amongst us so easily fall into - "you see the Holden pull that Ford down Conrod aye mate?" |

Surely in a world of globalisation, the most economic supplier should be selected given the cost pressures faced by Supercars teams? Last edited by V8 Fireworks; 30 May 2020 at 23:04. |

Stuff like panel/composite repair I can't see being offshored, but in-house fabrication, machining etc may no longer be an option, especially if control parts are introduced, allowing bulk orders from cheap overseas sources. |

Of course I would, unless it's Ford vs Ford. If there are only Mustangs then I'm probably not that interested.

I think therein iies the problem for me, I'm fine for people to be Mustang fans and cheering them on, but once the whole field is Mustangs, what's the point?

Yeah, exactly, I'm a McLaughlin and Penske supporter myself but now it's barely ok with Holdens being 2/3 of the grid but at least there are two makes. Supercars, the premier Australian motorsport category being a one-make cup? Completely bad idea which would kill the sport. It's just uninteresting seeing everyone representing the same brand.
