You are right. ACO don't aim to invite the greatest bands or singers. The race is the main event and they can't afford them. But it was worth listening to UB40 (...4 years ago already ) and losing one hour of race. I will probably watch Alpha Blondy ("African" reggae).

I suspect I'd bridle a little more if they splashed out and got Leonard Cohen along, where I'd be terribly divided about watching cars and watching someone great.

I like L. Cohen too but I don't think that singing "Famous Blue Raincoat" suits with the global atmosphere of the event. Nana Mouskouri singing After The Gold Rush shouldn't make it too.
I would be divided too if some less known dinosaurs came. Iggy Pop would be over the regulatory 115 dB.

If the Rolling Stones were playing, I might consider NOT attending. Fortunately, I shan't be anywhere near any of this noise, but will enjoy only the "noise" of the cars during my week+ at Le Mans.

Can you imagine what chaos there could be if the Stones were playing?.....

To be fair to the ACO, all those on this forum would be going to Le Mans whoever they book for the concert. Therefore the target audience must be people in the local region who may or may not otherwise attend, so therefore I assume they are selecting bands that appeal to the local audience.

I understand that they will book bands that the locals will like but they always seemed to book one band that would give them a little more coverage outside France but what do the locals think of this line up i wonder?

Here is a very interesting schedule, but I think we should have to attend either for the cars or for the concerts. Don't think the ACO could afford both........

claude2cv has a point here. Imagine the 10/10s forum in 1989 and the comments if the ACO had announced that an upcoming band from the USA called Nirvana was performing.
