Although im not a huge fan of the spec LMP2 and the lack of variety in engine/chassis manufacturers throughout the field im happy to admit that ive enjoyed the two days of practice & qualifying so far. Wanted Alpine to win but not sure they're going to be reliable.
Sorry if this is answered somewhere but im curious as to what the "dome" with two what look like antennas on top of the prototype cars is for. The GT cars dont seem to have it.

The difference in Hyperpole top 3 LMP2 times is pretty amazing if I see right:
3:28.39 - Pole time 3:29.69 - 2nd 3:30.07 - 3rd |

Wow. Both 3:24.4s
Top speed recorded by the McLaren/Donohue car in practice was 333km/h Top speed recorded by Hartley 337km/h I think the top speeds were measured in a different way. It is suggested on wiki that it was a flying km. Whereas I think it is a speed trap today. BTW, the fastest top speed measured was 343km/h by the Andretti/Bianchi car. |
