Nice one ..... I wonder how this little beast look with the new GT1 aero rules ?

Any impressions kicking about the www ?

Hope they have some good luck with it , I reckon there will be stiff competition in that class in the near future .

Like Badger, I think the Aileron looks pretty darn good and hope the car doesn't change too much in order to race.

Would be a shame though if Spyker were to drop the GT2 program though. Possibly, if anything, they could keep it alive via Privateer teams if there's anyone biting.

Hmm, and here I thought that GT-2 was the base car and GT-1 was just bits added, so how would that be dropping the GT-2 program? Also, is not the Squadron a "works" entry/entity and therefore not allowed or is that another one of those rules that means squat?!!

The GT1 is gonna have to be a completely different car then the current GT2-R. If one only see's what Nissan has had to do to their GT-R to make it elligable.....

Any news on the GT2-R doing any other races after Le Mans?

Seeing that the #85 is on the list for Portimão I would not be too worried yet :-)

I don't believe in these GT1 rumours for the Aileron. The only source is some kind of Italian website. You would think that there would be some news on Dutch websites of magazines that are a lot closer to the heat. But I have seen nothing.

And why would Spyker quit GT2? There are coming more and more different cars to GT2 (Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Corvette, BMW) so I don't think they will switch.

Also it is nog sure if these new GT1 cars will be able to race at Le Mans. And given the fact that Le Mans is very important for Spyker I don't think they will take the risk of missing it.

Spyker Squadron will start round three of the five-race Le Mans Series schedule this weekend from the back of the grid. After an engine failure in the third free practice session, the team did not have enough time to re-fit an engine in time for the 20 minute qualifying session for the 1000 km of the Algarve race that starts tomorrow at 19h15 (GMT).
...
Tom went in the car next but he had to return to the pit box shortly after with an engine failure. As the team was not able to be ready in time for qualifying, the organisers of the race gave the team permission to start the 1000 km race from the back of the grid tomorrow.

It looks like the Squadron had some bad luck indeed, but I think they should be fine for the race: Warm-up went really well!

What a great outcome for Spyker. Nice to see someone else get on the podium and also into second place for that matter. I do have a question though. If you look at the LMS GT2 classification, Spyker only has 6 points for the Championship. According to the table provided they received 0 points for Barcelona, 4 points for Spa, -2 points for Algarve and only 4 points for Nurburgring. Is this some sort of screw-up or am I not aware of a scoring quirk? According to what I would expect the scorring to be Spyker should have 0 points for Barcelona (DNF), 4 points for Spa (5th), 1 or 0 for Algarve (8th or DNF), and 8 for Nurburgring (2nd); thus, they should have 12 or 13 points . Am I off base or is the scorring screwed up on the LMS site?

I believe they had some engine changes. For that points are deducted.

Really nice to see them high up on the podium.
A bit of fresh air in LMS GT2 after all the Porsches and Ferraris.
