and no Peugeot - I'm not at all surprised with Kolles - trying to maintain two LMS cars and two F1 cars would seem a bit much

RLR = Rahal? Were they ever planning to come over the pond?

Surprisingly only 1 BMW. I thought they had 2?
GT2 has a good outing.

LMP1 is small but more interesting then Sebring was. We'll see how the Oreca 908 fairs against the Audi, but we also have the Aston Martins, Oreca's AIM which has done reasonable and Speedy Sebah / Rebellion.

They put the FLMs together in P2. Are they supposed to be at the same level?

It's nice to see the premiere of European racing with a long race.

Gotta say, that's a pretty disappointing entry. Take out the FLM cars, and it would stand at "just" 36, which is a nosedive compared to previous seasons. Guess the inclusion of the FLM cars means they anticipated this drop-off. Still, looking forward to the season finally getting underway. And I hope some of the notable absences (Kolles, etc) show later in the season.

Edit: I thought Pescarolo was sure he would take part at Ricard, and see where it went from there?

This probably sounds like a stupid question - but is this one running into the night?

And although we're lacking quantity, the LMP1 battle looks too close to call. Sure, the Audi will probably have the pace, but with the new(ish) car will come some teething problems. Testing shows the Oreca Pug isn't as quick as we might have thought, and really, any of those other entries could take the "best of the rest" honours.

Given lessons of previous years I'd be genuinely surprised if we didn't go through several more iterations of the entry list between now and the event actually starting.

The perennial optimist in me sees LMP1 in particular growing a bit.

The race ends at 7, so unlikely judging from the latitude the circuit, though to be fair I have never been to the Mediterranean coast in springtime to confirm in person.

Well, I think the race is after daylight savings time for the summer, in which case, it will probably be ending while the sun is setting so I guess we won't get any night racing.

Thanks for the clarifications on RLR (never heard of them) and Schnitzer's entry.

We are on DST right now here and dusk indeed extends past 7 already. We are at the same latitude here in southern Ontario as Paul Ricard is, but the position east to west in a time zone will also affect things, especially when the timezone is wide.

I seem to remember initally a Del Bello Noel Lola Judd appearing on the entry list at the start of the season, or has this been axed since DBN didnt get an LM entry this year?

I think the Del Bello LMS entry was dependent on them getting a Le Mans entry. As this was a no I suspect this has gone the way of all flesh.

I was surprised that Del Bello went the vapour Lola route. If he'd really been after a Le Mans entry with something competitive in the LMS a link up with Henri Pescarolo surely would have made a lot more sense. Indeed when first heard of the NDB entry I almost assumed this was him going down this route. Of course there are layers upon layers of complications that probably got in the way but this would surely have been a more credible bid than a yet to be purchased car.

I don't know that we've ever gotten a concrete answer on this. Is LMS going to be using the new GP layout at Silverstone come September?

I don't think we will get a concrete answer for quite a while yet, but given that the oginal Arena circuit idea was created for use as a Motorbike and Sportscar circuit, I'm sure it will be used for the LMS.

Down to just the Larbre Saleen in GT1 now, seriously ACO just get rid of the class, its an embarrassment.

Second that wholeheartedly. Even before the withdrawal of the Full Speed Saleen it was pretty pointless, now it's neither use nor ornament.

Time to draw a line under it, give the GT2 guys something proper to race for, and move on. For June allow the GT1 entrants to transfer to any of the other classes should they wish and nobody would lose out.

If GT1 teams were serious about Le Mans, you would have at least expected them to get a few endurance races under their belt.
