Guy's we are talking Spa here, it's a bit early to predict the weather no matter what car your talking about (although admittedly it is rather likely that rain will fall at some point during the weekend ).

Same chassis as the 2009 cars, and same basic suspension. Only the bodywork changed, and Audi had at least one test in the rain at Monza. In the rain, mechanical grip is what matters, and in that respect, the R15 should be just as good as if not better than last year(the changes have put more emphasis on this area). I'm pretty sure its in the suspension, the cars encounter tremendous understeer in wet conditions. At Petit Peugeot had the R15s cleared by over a second in the dry, which is impressive considering a lap is only about 70 seconds, but in the wet the 908s were moving chicanes. Once it started to dry they started to make up time on the R15s again.

I'm wondering what Peugeot will do with their 2011 car, will they keep the j damper system or not knowing the performance in the rain? If the performance enhancement is substantial enough I would keep the system even if it meant getting butchered any time it rained.

Anyways the last thing I hope happens this weekend is rain. Most likely the advantage will be Audis and we wont see the true difference in performance between the cars until Le Mans.

Actually at PLM, it was dry after about the first hour or so until it rained again during what would be the final 20-30 minutes of the race, and the Audis(especially the #2) was still faster in race trim than the 908s. That advantage may've been slight, but it was present. Could've been weather conditions(it seems that cool weather and other low grip conditons favor the Audi), and add to the fact that the #2 R15 for sure double stinted dry tires and Peugeot didn't, and the Audi didn't drop off might be a sign that the R15 since LM last year is easier on it's tires(back to the suspension/J-damper deal possibly).

Based on Paul Ricard and what the old R15 was able to do, it still has an agility advantage(lighter, which means better balast placemment and better natural weight distribution and braking), but has better strightline speed than the old car did. Peugeot may still have a speed advantage, but that top-end advantage seems to have been narrowed with the air restrictor changes the improvments on the Audi.

Nevertheless, Spa may be an Audi romp if it rains to any degree, especially if Peugeot hasn't fixed their suspension and ASR problems that have plauged that car's wet weather performance its entire life. Knowing this, they may get rid of the J-damper on the 909, and maybe the hydraulic system to shed weight and complexity. Audi had gotten rid of the areo channels on the R15, which seem to have helped that car immensly, so maybe we can see an improvement on the 909 if Peugeot go the same route with reducing complexity, but that's another story, and they're stuck with the 908 for now.

Not bad coverage. Almost 3 hours worth, 2 1/2 which will be non-commercials. Well split up though, better than showing the starting hour and the finishing hour.

Anyone have an idea what the 2 other Audis will look like-we know the paint scheme on the #7, but what will the 8&9 look like? Like the 7 but one will be mostly black with the red roll bar and the other will be mostly yellow with a black roll bar?

At least Peugeot gave us what the mirror housings and windshield bands would be colored on their cars in their press release. As for Audi, only photos of the #8's sidepod and cockpit area are known to exhist in Audi Sport press photos.

it's a bit crazy to think that ProSpeed will run 3 cars,#75 race as factory-support car,#98 for their lemans gentlemen,#93 with JWA(likely a newish car instead of the 07built car owned by Paul Dannies).both #75 and #98 already get full 2010 updates

Weather.com and Weather Underground's forcasts haven't changed-rain off and on thoughout the weekend. Weather.com says that Friday will be rainy and cold, Saturday will be cloudy and cold with a chance for rain, and Sunday will be rainy, and ironically will be the warmest day of the weekend.

It will be interesting to see whether the Audi or Peugeot can use the cold weather to their advantage. The weather in Spa this weekend is akin to Forks, Washington(anyone who's read the Twilight Saga novels or seen the films will know why, it's either cold or rainy, or cold and overcast most of the year except for a part of summer where it can be a heat wave thoughout the Pacific Northwest).

Seriously, though, the forcast isn't looking good, especially if you're Peugeot based on past performances in rain and mixed conditions. And qualifying might be based on how well Audi or Peugeot set up their car for cold weather if rain stays away on Saturday.

The RSR at Spa is Paul's 2007 car (the same car that raced @ Silverstone '09 (LMS).
