Martin Bull should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

I'm very much looking to being there on Sunday.

( BTW, reading through this thread brought to mind the late, great Frank Gardner - 'When the flag drops, the ******** stops' )

You've talked about 1" of difference between Audi and Toyota, but this is a your personal opinion, because nothing shows it's right what you're saying. Toyota has never proven to be 1" faster than R18, so I'm waiting to know where you've heard this.
I think we are talking about real facts, isn't it?
"heard of this"? Did you watch the live timing when you watched the races last year? Or did you watch the races? Funny how people are so hung up on this, the lap charts are still available but somehow it's a "personal opinion". Go here- http://fiawec.alkamelsystems.com/ they have lap by lap analysis and you can see for yourself. I suggest trying Sao Paulo 2012's race.

I'm heading down on Sunday for this one, introducing my other half to the wonderful world of Sportscars, might even try and get Radio Lemans podcast on in the car on the way down but she might veto that!

I have looked at the timing data quite extensively: comparing average lap times over the complete race distance, comparing average lap times over the stints over the different drivers, plotting lap times of the cars on the same graph, plotting difference in lap time, ... As expected the lap times fluctuate with traffic. However, as explained in post #26, on average Toyota was around 0.4-0.5 sec faster than Audi.

Please explain us what we should look at.

The game is to find a lap where Toyota was 1 sec faster than Audi? In that case, I found one Audi #1 did lap 30 in 1:26.577 and Toyota 1:24.525, which is 2 sec faster!
Mmmm, but wait. Audi #1 did lap 29 in 1:25.938 and Toyota in 1:27.209. And Audi #1 did lap 31 in 1:25.374 and Toyota in 1:26.552. So overall Audi #1 gained 0.4 sec in those three laps

Can you believe I am actually going to this!

My Dad bless him bought tickets for Sunday ( I only ever go on qually days in the past) so I now have to sit through an endurance race with me Dad!

I will try my hardest of course for his sake, but will be amazed if he doesn't get bored after 3 hours!

Let's hope a pair of bins, and SIlverstone Radio keep it entertaining!!

It doesnt mean I will ever go to Le Mans but for those that know my thoughs on it this is rather embarassing!

Lap one of Sao Paulo, Toyota did 1:26.381, Audi #2 did 1:27.709. You don't have to look hard at all. No traffic involved there. You can also look before they hit lap traffic and when Toyota started their 2nd stint (on the same set of tires with full fuel) lap 35 Toyota does 1:24.578, #2 Audi does 1:25.737.

Oh, if just a pair lap is good to say Toyota is 1" faster than Audi... we can change argument of discussion, and talk about girls and beer!
If Toyota was 1" faster than Audi, I think they had won the championship...

Toyota was not 1s faster, but it has nothing to do with wining the championship..

missing 2 races, and debuting at Le Mans, and racing with only one car is what lost the championship for them. And even so they were more then impressive..

Looks like it may pour down on Sunday at Silverstone. The whole weekend looks unsettled, if it is guaranteed to rain, I probably won't go. If its just showers I might still have a look.

We can do this game for hours
  • lap 69: Audi #1 1:24.275 vs Toyota #7 1:26.420
  • lap 71: Audi #1 1:24.390 vs Toyota #7 1:26.285
  • lap 73: Audi #1 1:24.918 vs Toyota #7 1:26.246
  • lap 77: Audi #1 1:24.541 vs Toyota #7 1:26.399
  • lap 80: Audi #1 1:24.675 vs Toyota #7 1:25.800
  • lap 83: Audi #1 1:24.618 vs Toyota #7 1:27.684
  • lap 92: Audi #1 1:25.298 vs Toyota #7 1:27.390
  • lap 101: Audi #1 1:25.498 vs Toyota #7 1:28.104
At that stage Fassler and Wurz were both on their first stint on new tyres.

Right, but TF110 talks as if Toyota was an hummer for Audi! This is not properly true!

Ten of the 17 cars in P1 and P2 entered at Silverstone have liveries that are predominately black. What’s up with that?

And the other 7 cars have liveries which are predominantly white! I guess white and black are pretty safe colours for sponsors.

Not seen any forecast that said it was going to pour. Bright sun is slowly changing towards showers it seems. Bit of a shame but I think it's one of those cases where you just need to look up and see what it's doing.

Same thing crossed my mind when reading that... + in place of everything with Lotus branding, this is the year of rebranding the Oreca 03...

I hope Audi TV or WEC website has decent coverage, I am really itching to get this season going - Sebring already feels like a long time ago.

Latest I'm seeing say light rain Friday; clear Saturday, but starting to rain for the ELMS race and maybe a few showers Sunday. http://www.metcheck.com/UK/7days.asp...e#.UWbIyKLBO87

Going to get wet both days then. Even if it's just a sprinkling on Sunday, it will be a consistent sprinkling seemingly. Could make things interesting on tyre choice.

Don't have a whole lot to add, but just wanted to pop in and say the I'm really really looking forward to this one. Should be some interesting battles in all 4 classes. My picks to win:

Toyota #7
Rebellion #12
Oak #24
Ferrari #51
Aston #96

A shame, I was hoping to get some nice sun-soaked images. I really hate the overcast look that a cloudy day's give pictures. It makes it harder to focus too.

When I type in Silverstone weather on the Google it gives me mostly cloudy for Sunday with only 20% chance of rain at the peak chance that day. I don't think we'll be seeing much rain, personally.

I quite like it showery - a wet but drying track can be great for photos, plenty of spray.
