weeks should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Ferrari 575GT or Murcielago R-GT?

If you had to pick one, which would you choose to race? The new 575gt from Ferrari

or the Murielago R-GT?

I would pick the Murcielago. Anything that good looking has to be a winner in one way or another.

I'd take either one....but paying for either one would be the issue....

Both would be awesome...but I would ahve troube dropping that knid of $$$, ieven if I were filthy rich, just to have some 85-year-old geezer pull out in front of me and wreck the car for me....or some clueless dork bang the side panel with their door as they got into their car....

The major difference here is that the Ferrari has a little more time and a racing history here in all it's forms (550, 575), whereas the Lambo is a new entry and has no past design hold-overs with the Diablo racing chassis.

This is why the 575gt is a better choice...

I think neither one will factor in the immediate future. The Murcielago is NOT made by Audi sport as one might hope. The program is still headed by Reiter Engineering, who was running Diablo for a while without much result. Now obviously with VAG's blessing they might do better, with more $$$. But in FIA GT teams like Lister or Carsport Holland are pretty strong with know-how and are still privateer with older equippment, maybe money will help Reiter close the gap, if they know where they need to head. The 575 GTC, in Ferrari's mistake, decided to ignore Prodrive's longtime effort and turn to something new. Sure many iteration of 550/575 have been around, Prodrive was the only real successful one.

I would pick the Lamborghini because it's a very nice car and Peter Kox will drive the car.

The Ferrari i think will do better .. the Prodrive one is succesuful cause it was the only team good enough .. the rest was almoast standard 550 .. anyway . should be interesting to see the 575 against the 550 .. and if the 575 will cath up .. ... how long will it take .. will it gonna be before the Maserati comes out ????

If it was my money, I'd possibly be tempted to stick with the proven package and talk to Prodrive instead - the Lamborghini is new, and whether it was down to the team, the budget or the shortcomings of the Diablo itself, Reiter's previous Lambo efforts weren't particularly competitive. The 575 is also a bit of a risk factor- so far, only the Prodrive version of the 550 has been a winner (and from memory took a while to be reliable), and right now we don't know whether the new 575 is a step forwards over that

What exactly is the difference between 575 and 550 race car. As a road car there is the obvious difference between displacement and the F1 gearbox. But on the race car, the "550" has a 6 liter V12, and had racing sequential box. I don't see much difference would be on the 575....

On balance, I think I'd go with the Murcielago, because I think a mid-engined car has more potential.

The Ferrari, Lamborghini know nothing about racing. Besides, it's a Ferrari. You know, a Ferrari.

BSchneiderFan, the mid engine layout might have better balance, but nowhere as much testicular fortitude.

slicktsax has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
well each have their own strengths. both have a 6 liter V12. but the lambo would have the advantage in handling but the ferrari should be good in a straightline and at lemans straightline speed is more important. look at the vettes and 550's. the vettes were better in cornering and braking but still couldn't match the ferrari's straightline speed and in teh end the straightline speed was the upperhand so i'd pick 575 GTC
