Can't really comment on the logic of the car's original importation, perhaps the regs for the spec series were not yet finalised, or perhaps they had other intentions with the car. Couldn't track down the original owner to ask.

Several Tiga S2000's were actually built under license here for the same race series mentioned in my previous posts. One or two were even close to Group C spec and raced in the year end int. races at Kyalami. If I recall correctly, around 10 were built of which at least 5 or 6 are still around.

Mel Lahner was the designer /constructor of the Lant, which was a close copy of the F.Atlantic Ralt. I am not aware that any Lant sports cars were built, although it is possible the several of the Tigas had Lant components .

Fausto I recall the Lant C2 car too, and the fact it was based on a Ralt RT4.

Racer72 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Hi,

I guess it's a bit late to replay on this thread?
But what I would like to share is that I am the Swede that keeps the remainings from Nykjaers C2 car. Any restoration hasn't started yet.
Unfortunately it is only the bodywork and chassi (with some small components) and the Fia paper that are left of it. Since Onni Kreivi crashed the car at some occation and it cought fire.
I also have a complete set of moulds for it. :-)

I also have a 'second' car using the same body shape/moulds (long tail though) which was build by a Swedish guy named Jan Lundegård. The car was never finninshed but its a rolling monocoque chassi (a'la porsche 956/962).

They are both for sale for the moment.

Thanks
Peter

I have also noticed that several C2 cars carried very similar bodywork during that period, as has been rightly pointed out, prodeced by Lotec. What led me to investigate the possible Nykjaer link however was moe related to the chassis construction, as the Nykjaer car is the only one(besides my car), where I have found the clear reference to Gepard as the chassis constructor.

My car has in fact a Gepard chassis plate, with the logo of a Cheetah, for which Gepard is the German name. Can anyone shed light whether any other cars perhaps also had this same chassis constructor?

When I bought the car, it was fitted with a Mazda Rotary engine, although this was certainly fitted here in SA. The car competed in a spec series in 1991/92 were the drivetrain was specified as Mazda 13B/Hewland Ft200. The reason for this was quite simple. Our local F.Atlantic series had just finished, and there were plenty of these drivetrains available as thye were used in that series from mid to late eighties.
Interesting story. There is someone who is interested about the Nykjaer with Wankel engine. He is the editor of the german Wankel Journal. In 2018 someone had parts for a Nykjaer. Probably for a Nykjaer. The person is probably unfamiliar with the subject. He thought this was parts of a Porsche 956/962. I have pics from these parts.

Best regards.

Jens Hillmann

Nykjaer: a Danish Group C

Just to remind the good folks that Danes and Swedes were not the only ones
building Group C cars back in the Eighties...

Apologies for the comments being in Norwegian only, but it does show the whole story of the Cheek C88 from its inception in 1886 to its demise against the Donington pit wall in an Interserie race in 1994.
