Future F1 Cosworth V8'S

Do you think there will be anything stopping champ car using the future F1 Cosworth V8's when there come into play...

Imagine the test mileage there'll get, yes I know there is a great difference between Champ Car and F1 but still test mileage is test mileage

They could possibly use a revlimited version as a spec ChampCar engine, yes.

Interesting thought, particularly with the testing aspect, Cosworth's relation to CC and longer life of future F1 engines. I think the F1 engines will still be too expensive for Champ Car, they use all sorts of wacky technologies. Perhaps once F1 gets up to engines that are required to last 8 races it would be cost effective for Champ Car.

I suppose economies of scale would also come into play. Building engines for 20-22 cars instead of 2-4 could theoretically reduce costs massively for both F1 and Champ Car. In turn that might reduce the costs low enough for further F1 teams to get on board. Imagine if Sauber, Midland/Jordan, RBR, Minardi, team Dubai and ever Champ Car bought the same Cosworths? Due to the number of engines being sold they might actually be competitive with the top manufacturers.

I think in 2006 you'll see a Champ Car engine that is extremely similar to the F1 counterpart, if not the same engine all together.

The one stumbling block to this great idea is that Champ Car being a one engine series, there isn't really any incentive to change because the cars are already extremely fast in the package they have. Only once Cosworth can offer up a cheaper or similar priced engine to the teams will CC switch to another block.

I'd love to see them with the refugee V10's in 2006.

Yeah...it'd be like the supposed Australian V8 thing where they had a car running round in England...
