Only other news that Dagys has tweeted today is that Imola has regained a Grade 1 rating from the FIA, but that's more of a concern for the LMS/WEC as Imola can hold F1 races again.

Weird, it was already listed as Grade 1 track on the official FIA circuit licence sheet (I checked 2009, 2010 and 2011 versions)

It was actually 1T since the reconstruction as far as I'm aware... then again, may be wrong, but definitely remember reading reports about Imola having grade 1T before.

The FIA rated Imola a 1T from '07 onwards, meaning that official tests can be held there, but not an actual F1 race. I think that the minimum recommended for LMP/GT sportscar races is a Grade 2 or maybe a 3, but the Imola info is from Wikipedia and the sportscar Grades are from what I've read on other sections of the forum.
And Cytosport running a partial Grand-Am schedule isn't exactly breaking news in all honesty--Pickett wanted to run the Daytona 24 this year but the AMR deal got put together too late to implement the GA endurance race plans. Good news is that Pickett still wants Muscle Milk AMR/Cytosport to run in the ALMS full time next year, but that brings about the question of their program and if they'll have to change cars again. The ACO, as far as I know, says the grandfathered cars can run up through at least 2012, but will likely have to fitted with the dorsal fin under proposed 2012 aero rules. But some have said that the grandfathered cars will either be legislated out by being banned or restricted to the point of being non-competitive next year. However, with the LMS going their own way with the ACO's rules for '12, the ALMS may likely do the same, as they've done this year with the LMPC and GTC cars being allowed to run at Sebring and PLM, so Cytosport may still run the Lola/Aston Martin in the ALMS if AMR will support the program, but this remains to be seen for '12. |

Road Atlanta and VIR is rated a grade 2. (Have no idea how VIR got a grade 2).
Can't find anything for Mosport? Anyone know what grade Mosport is? Also what grade did Champ Car run at? Were they a grade below F1? Last edited by gregtummer; 5 Sep 2011 at 23:06. |

Mosport would have to be a Grade 2.
ChampCar ran to Grade 2. I thought Imola was a full Grade 1 once the reconstruction was completed for 2007. |

What would the Le Mans 24 Hours track have to do to get Grade 1?
More runoff at Indianapolis, Arnage, and the Porsche Curves, pave the entire track, and then widen the straights? |

I don't know that they'd grant a Grade 1 to any track of that length.
Anyway, they'd have to do a lot of repaving. The Porsche Curves would have to be surrounded by a veritable parking lot. Run-off would have to be added at a number of those kinks, as well as Indianapolis and Arnage. The sections that are still public road would have to be substantially widened. There would have to be wider verges along a number of the straights, and all the armco replaced with something more "up-to-date". In short, it ain't worth it to even try to do that, period! |

that list is simply ridiculous, if you read welle there is the abudhabi main layout that is grade 1 while the V8 layout is grade 2 .-. is the same circuit and structure!

Yes but there is some grass on the V8/GT1 run off-areas (instead of tarmac parking lots like everywhere else), I guess that makes the difference

It's grade 1 only because of F1, if they stopped going there the licence would probably be downgraded to 2 immediately.

That's one fine looking provisional list for Laguna I think, hands down the best of non-ILMC rounds this year. Hopefully Robertsons will be there as promised, otherwise they're in deep trouble |

Level 5 still listed with a Lola, if all goes according to plan they will debute one ot their new HPD´s. Also an extra AM-Lola, when was the last time we saw 2 of them together on track? Last year Le Mans 24 perhaps?
Healthy entry, no matter what. |

Very nice entry list, with the 2nd aston and the hybrid. I've enjoyed watching ALMS this season.
