IDR (Impact Data Recorder)

I was at the FIA Stewards Meeting @ Santa Pod yesterday and was shown a piece of kit the FIA & MSUK are bringing in.
The good news is it's free and not compulsary. It is fitted close to the drivers seating position and is small & stand alone and has it's own power source. It's purpose is to supply the FIA Safety Department with an indication of any impact exceeding 15G in one of 3 axis (X,Y & Z).
This information is fed back to the FIA but will provide vital information to medical personnel (if requied) on the impact of g forces experienced during an incident.
