Shelsley Walsh Centenary Event

Has anyone got any information about the Shelsley Walsh big event this year? And does anyone know how the fundraising efforts are getting on?

August 14&15th. As far as I'm aware, it's only 2 days this year, not 3 (that's what the availability form says. The hill centenary, fund raising permitting will be 2005, but the August meeting has been pretty special the last few years, and I asume it will be the same this year.

I'm not aware of the appeal's progress, but last I heard it was 'doing well'. I find it inconceivable that the sums required won't be found, and the club have confidently sent out the availability forms, so they can't be too worried!

At the last count, just before christmas, the trust had raised £345,000. £1.5m is required by March. Not sure on progress after Christmas. Anyone know??

This I view totally justified and support Woolley in all his efforts to raise the standards of marshalling and officialling at The World's Most Famous !!!!!!!

After all, we would all like to be assured that the training fire that we've extinguished, in a proud an efficient manner, under Matt's guidance, will still be out 2hrs later as we leave the venue!!!

as would the local Fire Brigade !!!!!

p.s. and you thought we'ed forgotten !!!

Elephants, that's what wwe are, never forget a mishap. (Don't mention the Jaguar!)

The MAC dates are on Julian's excellent website, so anyone who hasn't received a form can use that. Alternatively contact Dave Ball, marshal's secretary, who's number in on the Shelsley Walsh website. All 10thers are more than welcome to join us for the party. We may even get Mr Dillon to run a radio station again!

Just a shame the driver of the car you were towing did`nt know where his brakes were really was`nt it blackcr0w!!! Dunno if Woolley knows where the handbrake is sitting in the car or whether he has to dive in the drivers door head first to find it!! Perhaps we could rename Matt Dillion Disco Dillon if he`s going to play us some tunes.......

I knew exactly where the handbrake was.

It was inside the car

Unfortunately I wasn't...

Gary, got your dates, thanks. I'll pass them on to Dave

From the tone of the letter which has been sent to MAC members and competitors ? then the fund raising is not going as well as expected and £800,000 still needs to be found in the next two months . I really hope the funds can be found or Shelsley will be no more

I also recieved that letter. I felt it was completely in the wrong context. They are obviously struggling to find the funds. According to the letter, only 20% of competitors have donated any money, which is a small percentage. But to start threatening to review entries based on whether you have donated or not is disgraceful! To send such a negative and threatening letter is a bit poor really. Why not rally peoples support by sending a positive and proactive letter? I certainly feel uninspired by the comments made.
However, I don't want to lose Shelsley and will donate some more money. Lets think how good it could be if they do raise the money. New resturant, museum, better spectator facilites, better marshall facilities etc. I could be the best hillclimb in the world, as well as the oldest. It has the potential to be great! So if you can afford to dontate something, no matter how small then visit the website and make a pledge. I'm off there now!
