Well, Felipe Massa has officially been snapped up by Sauber for 2002, to replace Kimi Raikkonen.

I don't want to alarm you Massa fans (Bon?), but going to Sauber might mean he's being groomed as TGF's lapdog for 2003.

I really admire Sauber at the minute. Here's a team that promotes fresh talent and it's being very successful to boot!! Sells them on for a tidy profit and you have a very good strategy that benefits all. I wish Felipe all the best. With any luck he'll be every bit as good as that Raikonnen. He has more pedigree for a start. A very good move in the RIGHT direction.

Yep, this guy is brilliant! look at his testing times. i know they aren't a very accurate reflection of talent, due to fuel loads, etc. but even so, he did a fabulous job. Best of luck filepe, lets hope you will be yet another great brazilian!

I have no idea who Massa is, except he was Euro F3000 champion, so good on him for getting the seat, and good luck to him next year.
As for Saubers current youth policy, well after having a string of old guys in his cars such as Herbert, Alesi, Salo, Larini, Diniz (not old, just slow) and Morbidelli (just slow) and not achieving much with them, Peter has made a sound investment in youth. With Heidfeld and Raikkonen this year, plus a great car, Sauber has had their best season. This policy has equalled results at least. |

Massa is most definately gifted. Note that he was thrown around as a possibility for Ferrari tester in 2002.
I do agree with Bononi though. Are we SURE that Massa is 20? |

The future is Massa vs Raikkonnen vs Heidfeld vs Alonso vs Montoya with a little bit of Ralf in there as well. What a duell!!

Is it true that this Massa fellow broke the track record at Mugello (in a Sauber) a couple of weeks ago while TGF was watching??
If it is true, then, you are correct, with Raikonnen, Alonso, Heidfeld, Ralf, and <ahem> Montoya, we will have a nice batch of young drivers to look out for. Last edited by Inigo Montoya; 13 Oct 2001 at 22:57. |
