B) A proper pair of cycling shorts is essential for long distance comfort. There is nothing worse than uncomfortable posterior when riding.
Maybe with Mike's ability as a cyclist you know all this anyway, but it is important to get these things right.
Very best of luck, we all loved Mike and will be rooting for you.

Bauble, many thanks for the tips. I had a 'bike fit' when I bought my new road bike last spring and have felt pretty good. I did a 110k 5 years ago on a hybrid bike and did get a bit of knee pain in the build up, but nothing on this one. I know it will be the hours in the saddle that will be the killer and may I may wear two pairs of the gel padded shorts! Also my posterior is pretty hardened from years sitting on a horse!!

ha ha !! I wore my yellow 'Tour' socks this morning on my ride .... they came free with the race guide one year. I am commuting to work on her this week. Thank you so much to all of you who have sponsored me so far, your support and beautiful comments mean a lot. I really struggle with the realisation that he has gone as you all do, but not forgotten .. just keep peddling
Much Love xx

Yes, was strange to be at a race meeting without his presence last weekend. I insisted on wearing shorts and sandals all weekend (when not driving). Actually it felt quite comfortable so may continue in the vein.

Mike's family have commissioned a Tribute Calendar that uses pictures from the tribute Album on Google, and it is available from;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114448629296
It is sold on a not-for-profit basis, and it is hoped that sufficient sales to cover the cost of printing can be achieved.
Most of the work involved in producing the calendar has been provided free-of-charge by the publisher.
A great 2021 calendar and a worthy cause.
