JohnnyFiama should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Eastern Creek 1994

Way back in 1994 I was backpacking around Australia and as a big racing fan had to see an event or two. I went to the Indycar race at Surfers and a touring car race at Eastern Creek. The race must have been sometime around the July-August. I've googled around but can't find any info on this race, if you know of a link to results / pictures I'd be grateful. My biggest memory of the day was about 30+ classic Holdens (not sure exactly what they were, not too hot on my Holden history) piling towards the hairpin about 4 abreast with several on the grass..... mad stuff....

Late '94 or early '95, in testing.

IIRC that was the only time the Chevron boys ever used a Lance Ruting photo in their books too, he was the only photographer there I believe...

Definately the HQs I would say Johnny. They were good fun.

Yup, a quick search for Holden HQs and they look familiar so it must have been them. The Indycar race at Surfers that year was equaly mad as there were so many delays and restarts that the street lights were on for the last few laps....

You can get the race on the 1994 ATCC season review DVD from chevron.com.au I just watched it a few weeks ago.

I think that's the round where Brock got HRT's 1st ever round win. Qualified on pole and won both races.

And people just shook their heads, bit their lips and wondered who would be second".

Yes, the round where Seton got stuck on the kerb in Turn 2. Charming, that. Lost him any chance of a second successive championship.

Definatly 1994, Skaife won the Eastern Creek round in 1995, a good effort considering his accident there a few months earlier in the Triple Challenge.

Ah, the triple challenge.

My first ever motorsport event. During parent-teacher interviews at school, my kindergarten teacher wanted to know what a 'top fueller' was and why I wouldn't shut up about them...
