Is this the ugliest BTCC entry?

If they pull it off...
Will this be the ugliest BTCC car ever.

Rumours are Victor Meldrew is lined up for driver ater dumping his Almera.

Gotta have a laugh...

I saw the normal road car the other day

Yuk! The BTCC car might look slightly better I suppose...

While it looks ugly, it will give the BTCC another entry. That is good news?

It is good to see as many makes as possible represented. And if some independent teams do well it might give the manufacturers something to think about.

It's odd, people (i.e autocar) have always said that the Nissan Primera looked boring until the latest car. I think it looks pretty ugly and has put on a few pounds. i preffered the 97-99 shape even if it was "boring"

(The white-blue ETCC Primera looked great)

But every extra entry is good!

Why the ugliest?? I think that the Primera looks very good (although not in red) and that is better-looking than the Astra Coupe or the Proton Impian, which aren't so beautiful..
But more cars, more better will be..

I suspect that all future Nissans will be this ugly thanks to Renault's involvement!

I like the look of the Primera, much better than those Protons.

Anyway, another car on the grid looks good for any championship.

its the same team that run Mcrae in the dakar so it does make sense, all though it seems unlikely that it would happen. Mcrae did do a few btcc rounds in 92 i think it was.

from toca tour

RJN Close To BTCC Entry With Nissan

" ...During 2003, the team has played an important role in Nissan's Rally raid programme, undertaking development and preparation work on the 2004 Dakar 'Pick-Up' for Yves Loubet, Ginniel De Villiers, Ari Vatanen and Colin McRae. It also built the T1 class-winning Nissan Patrol for Yoshi Ikemachi and Tierry Delli-Zotti."

this possibly portaguese (?) guy - a_r_c_a really dislikes Mcrae his comments are a laugh.

The looks of the new Primera may not be to everyone's taste, but if the chassis is as good as the 97-99 Primeras then it'll be a winner, mark my words.

i suppose another thing to remember is that Renault and Nissan are one and the same company, both of which have had success in the btcc before so there is every chance that the chassis could be a good one.

However i'm i won't believe this team will run until they're announced on the media day or at thruxton, more credibility than the griffin 406s and the total motor sport lexus tho.

Mostorsport forum moderators had banned him and now he made an invasion to portuguese foruns. He stays the same. Always ready to attack everyone and specially Porsche and British cars and Teams.
He stills hate Bentley, Lister, Prodrive, McRae, McNish, BMW UK, BTCC,...and so on.

Blimey, that arca bloke really was....INTENSE! Gave me a good laugh, though I hope doesn't turn up here!

As for the Nissan, I don't think it is the ugliest touring car ever, but it's not going to win any beauty prizes either.

Would McRae seriously want to come from an international championship to race in a BTCC privateer team in a national championship, with no chance of winning the title, maybe just the independents cup?

P.S. What the hell...Aaron Slight did!

Couldnt agree more. That Primera looks OK while the Protons are just bland (except for that terrible colour scheme!). Has anyone ever seen a Proton Impian road car? I havent yet and cant help but feel that Proton's BTCC involvement is having no effect on road car sales!
I suppose if they sort themselves out and become competitive they might sell a few cars but I dont see how they're benefiting from competing at the moment!!

i've seen a few of the proton impians on the road, however every time i see one i expect some connection to the btcc team!

agree that the btcc involvement is having very little impact on the car sales, you dont see tons of astra coupes either tho. I think its the malaysian petronas money thats keeping them in the btcc.

i think the proton colour scheme is all right at least its not red!

I've noticed more than before they entered the BTCC, but the UK is not really a place where people go for cars like Protons. We just stick safely with Fords or Vauxhalls!

Proton originally joined the BTCC as they had been successful in the eastern touring car championships and wanted to see if they could conquer the most competitive championships (in European racing).

So far, no! But if they did would it have more of an effect for the people back in Malaysia, rather than the UK?

It could be worse, it could look like a Daytona Prototype.
