Slicks over the winter

In the house or in a cold garage? Do they go through any sort of heat cycle in the house?

rcarr has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Over 23 years of racing in our family we have never worried about this ever!

I reckon leave them as they are over the winter and paint tyre softner on them 3 weeks before the 1st race next season!

StephenRae should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I heard it was light which continued the curing process...covering them with bin bags may work.

Mainly keep them out of any sunshine in a reasonably stable temperature.

I now have a full set of knackered wets on my tyre rack - like a fool, with no space to hide them, I left them outside, and the sidewalls on the fronts have splits in them, and the treads are cracking up on the rears.

They need to be kept out of the sun, at a reasonable temperature, and I'm told, deflated, better still off of the rims.

Richard? Tyre Softener? Bad boy!
You should be spending hundreds on new tyres, not £20 or less on a pot of softener that brings a tyre back to nearly new condition (yet has little or no effect on new rubber!!)

Rob.

Rob, our team can't afford to buy new tyres! When they start to go bad or "go off" quickly during a race, then we will scrape the barrell to buy new ones, then its fewer burgers and fewer races for us during the season!

What brand or substance do people use as tyre softener? ie. The best sort?

Yes, I tested with it on at our local airfield but found out I needed new tyres anyway! It wasnt worth buying a bottle for me personally because the tyreswere too old in the 1st place!

By the 1st race I was sporting nice new sticky slicks! But binned it 20secs into the race!
