Minardis on slicks!
As Bridgestone haven't supplied any tyres to Minardi (even though they are bound to do by Concorde), Minardi have begun testing on totally slick Avon (F3000) tyres - back to the good old days!

Apparently they have every right to force bridgestone to supply them as both tyre manufacturers agree to supply six teams if asked.I'm guessing that BS may say that minardi didn't give them enough time to organise tyres if asked by the fia.
I'm really surprised that no websites have pics yet!!! |

I wonder which are quicker. Grooved F1 tyres or slick F3000 tyres. I would imagine F1 tyres. F3000 is a single tyre race series so they are probably quite conservative in terms of durability/grip.

They are testing on slick F3000 Avon tyres as a deal has not yet been signed with Bridgestone.

Certainly the grooved F1. Besides, the compounds become better with every day due to the tyre war.

Yes, the Avon's a spec tire, so almost no money's been spend on it's development.
But I'd wager, ask the drivers, which tire they had more fun with, and they'll say the slick! |

the car looks so sexy,
pity the looks will be damaged by sponsorship, i know its unrealistic due to the cost of running an F1 team, but how i would love to see a plain black car (like the picture) running in F1. |

Now If they'd just pushed those wheels out past the end of the front wing to widen the track of the car.... |

I'm surprised PS hadn't decked it out with European Aviation sponsorship in the interim.

Oh they've just GOT to be brought back. F1 is too safe anyway (controversial...).

Of course slicks ought to be brought back. This is F1 for crying out loud. And I don't think a return to slicks would make F1 less safe either - the cars are getting faster and faster anyway, and the tyres would certainly not get any less grip by having more rubber in contact with the ground.
