Moral failure to be followed by financial failure at FIA?
Hard to believe but see here:

I bet the sport could do a lot worse than Sir Fred.

But then again we did get Max (?). Are there any other potential candidates? |

Isn't this the man that has just lead the RBS into self-destruct mode?

There could be many worse people than Sir Fred. Give him a chance (unless someone better stands).

To be fair, the banking situation wasn't all RBS's fault, they went down when the Americans would give a multi-million dollar mortgage to a gerbil.

Points taken.
Oh this fence sitting plays havoc with the old....and not a whip in sight. Gerbils? Thought I spotted a few designer cages lately. Still not convinced Fred is the man for the job. But yes he is not JT or MM. |

Unbelievable. Screw up one job, get another through the old pals network.
This is why I'm starting to think Marx was basically right! When capitalism just becomes self-serving with useless greedy nonentities conspiring to run everything at the expense of everyone else eventually people say enough is enough [see Russia 1917] See you on the barricades! |

No no no no - why are the blazer brigade so blinkered. At least Max was a racing person, this guy seems to have done a few trackdays at Knockhill - hardly qualified to know how it works. Max may not be all things good - but this guy could be motorsports GWB.
Nope I think Todt would be better by miles. Sure he is a Ferrari apologist but the FIA is more than F1 - Todt has seen action in the WRC, Le Mans and F1. David Richards is possible too. |

I'd rather Paul Stoddart, Eddie Jordan or Giancarlo Minardi was president than Jean Todt - those three don't have connections with existing teams, and have ran a team at the lower end of the budgetary scale in F1.

"It is a sad, sad day for motorsport and it will signal the end of the FIA as we know it. This will prompt a mass exodus of sponsors, and members will now either break away from the FIA or form a breakaway group themselves. He is acting like a dictator and history tells us that dictators never abdicate power. The damage that has been done and continues to be done by Max every day he is the president, is irreparable. We have to get rid of this guy." (source BBC) |

Probably utter ****e, but I read somewhere today that Ari vatenaan (excuse spelling please) could be up for the job. Good guy, has real world experience, and currently an MEP so should be able to handle the politics. Also I would guess, not being afraid to call a spade a spade !
Could do a lot worse ! |

I think Max is capable of finding a more competent successor.

There'll be not be a shortage of applicants.
For a start Flyin Ryan, Pingguest and I will all stand and I bet there will be a few others on this forum who would consider themselves to able to make as many great decisions as Max has over the last ten years..... And better ones than Sir Fred has made recently.... So no shortage of candidates.... Last edited by Teretonga; 30 Jan 2009 at 00:07. |
