Edmonton should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
CanAm Fuel

What kind of fuel were the bigblock chevies running on?

Racing Gasoline.
Penske used Sunoco naturally.
Racing gas then did not have to cope with the extreme compression ratios that came about later.

Remember backt then automotive products were the major sponsors.
Publicity did make a difference in gasoline sales.

R59 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the gridR59 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
These days they run on 110 RON racing fuel.

Over here, we have to use 102 RON, so compression ratios are lower.

Most of the sport has to run on 98RON in Europe, so lower still.
