To be fair though it was a European field.
Regarding MCR/Coopers Racing, how can you base these 'their gonna get whipped' argument's when you've only seen them race once (and win at that)? From what i have read here no one is predicting they are going to win the Championship...... David Brabham - Aren't Aston Martin only doing selected races based around Le Mans next year? Could Brabham not drive for both teams? (presuming he is talking to both teams) Also the Bahrain-winning car is apparantly for sale. An upgrade perhaps....... |

Coopers Racing are very serious about plans going forward - For the record they were VERY disappointed that the JMB Ferraris weren't at Bahrain.
I think a dose less cynicism about this team would be in order. We should all be welcoming their step up. And you would be making a BIG mistake if you think they are going to stand still on the car front too. |

Nobody has suggested Graham that the team are not serious about going forward, and nobody has suggested that they were glad JMB and GNM were not at the Bahrian GT festival. (yes I know JMB did bring along a 360). Honestly though Graham, they arent a big team and will have a uphill struggle to compete at the front of the FIA GT grid in 2005. The days of small privateer operations being competitive in FIA GT are at the moment at least gone. To be competitive u need to be a big team, or a manufacturer.
Im very happy to see Cooper Racing step up to the International stage, I just dont see them being terribly competitve. As has been said before, they are a small team with not the biggest budget in the world. Going on what I have seen/read/heard id imagine their competitveness to be that of Weith, Force one etc, if that. Still I guess we will have to wait and see what 2005 brings. |

Yes, interesting to note a Ferrari employee hanging around with them all week.
Also note the noted engineer who is now on the market after the collapse of Veloqx. And the team owner hot footed it to Maranello as soon as the race was over............ Hhmmmm. P.S. We do have the odd driver down here that is capable of running long enduros in this kind of machinery. Apparently Mr. Bowe was on the phone before the rose water had hit the ground. If the team is looking at an MC-12 with factory help (and some Aussie technical assistance ) or indeed one of the 575's around, then they will be as competitive as their budget allows. It was a serious run, 2 drivers paid for the privilege, as opposed to some of the crews at the meeting equipped with "Gentlemen Racers" in at least one seat.... |
