$48 million: To be or not to be?
Mosley have stated that paying $48 million as a deposit for creating an F1 team will not be mandatory anymore. But if the costs stay in the level they are now, new teams wont participate no matter wether they have to pay to participate or not.
He also said that smaller teams could buy parts from a bigger team and so McLaren is thinking of a second car (car b in particular) in the grid (just like Red Bull). And I kept thinking where is the sport going? To having four or five (rich) teams and another four or five "helpers"? Division A and Division B? |

We saw it with Hakinnen and Coulthard, we saw it with Barrichelo and Schumacher, we saw it (more undercovered the truth is) with Alonso and Fisichela now will we see it with drivers from different teams??? |

Given that the "B" teams will be running the previous year's chassis, it's unlikely they'd be in a position to overtake.
Anyway, it's not going to be directly owned in the same way - it's more a customer arrangement. Did drivers for Rob Walker ever worry about overtaking those of Colin Chapman? |

Secondly, in what way is that different to the big Alfa Romeo or Mercedes teams in the '50s. Those races where we used to have many BRMs or such like. Or when people like Rob Walker used to run his team? The more I think about it the more it is like the old days! |
