Clemente Biondette, who won the Mille Miglia on a number occasions joined the Jaguar sportscar team in 1950. Apparently impressed by the team, he tried to convince them to enter F1. After failing he installed a Jaguar engine in a privateer Ferrari F1 car and entered the '50 Italian Grand Prix. However, the car wasn't a success and after attempting to develop the car further, Biondette returned to sportscars before dying from cancer in 1955.

It is still the only Jaguar engine to race in the world championship.

The XK was a great engine, although not really suited to GP racing.

rcarr has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Rod Jolley races a Lister Monza which is the only jaguar engined GP car I can think of but maybe Vanwall had 1?

Did the Lister-Monza run in a World Championship GP? What races did it do?

The Vanwall name is now available as a road car with a V12 Jaguar engine: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/...13/mfvan13.xml
