The schedule for next year’s F1 race calendar has been revealed, and the FIA have thrown up a few surprises.
At the FIA World Motor Sport Council it was announced that the British GP will be held on May 13. But the biggest surprise is that the Malaysian GP will now be held on March 18, just two weeks after the season opener in Melbourne – a big move away from the season finale slot it holds this year. The European GP has been moved forward and is now round nine in the championship, a month later than this year’s race at the Nurburgring. 2001 Provisional Calendar: Australian GP March 4 Malaysian GP March 18 Brazilian GP April 1 San Marino GP April 15 Spanish GP April 29 British GP May 13 Monaco GP May 27 Canadian GP June 10 European GP June 24 French GP July 8 Austrian GP July 22 German GP August 5 Hungarian GP August 19 Belgian GP September 2 Italian GP September 16 American GP September 30 Japanese GP October 14 |

Nice to see Suzuka back to being the finale. And at least they had the sense to move Silverstone a bit later.
But aren't we going to be a bit tired of Malaysia when it turns up in March??? Watching it once is bad enough as it's such a duff track, but virtually 2 races in succession will be awful! |

They should have moved Silverstone even later than that. What's wrong with swapping with the slot they've given the Nurburgring? And why do we have to have a 2 week gap between every race. Before this season there were always some races that were just a week apart and others that were 3 weeks apart. We probably could have had the British GP in July this year and next year if they had done this again because it opens up a lot more options.
When are we going to get all these Chinese/Venezualan/Saudi Arabian GPs that we keep hearing about? |

Shhhht, ed-f1, Nuerburgring is perfect that way (it fits my plans that is ). Can anyone suggest a good spectator spot for the Ring? I'm thinking-the straight right after Dunlop or maybe even exactly at Dunlop, or maybe at Ford. Any suggestions?

Why oh why is Silverstone in May Did the organisers not learn their lesson from this year's mess!
And also - Spain shame that isn't any earlier - I was hoping to tag a holiday in with that one |

It strikes me that from Spa on the races are about one week later than in past years...hmmmm.
Also, Silverstone SHOULD BE IN JULY!!!! Swap Imola and Spain, who says San Marino HAS to be fourth? |

Yup, I'm afraid moving Silverstone to only a fortnight later than 2000 will do nothing. It needs to be, no HAS to be, in July or August if they want to prevent this year's fiasco.
