Not another Challenge! (Chicago)
The venue - Chicago Motor Speedway. This is a disused oval circuit in Cicero, near Chicago. The 1.029 mile oval hosted ChampCar and NASCAR's Truck Series. Whilst the stands have been demolished, the oval is still there.
The challenge - to create a part-oval, part-street circuit suitable for IRL and ALMS, possibly F1. Your track must - The track must be at least 3.4 km long. The track must use part of each straight of the oval and one corner. Your track cannot - The horse track cannot be demolished. The track cannot have straights longer than 1km. You cannot modify CMS to make the oval unusable (part of the deal with the race is that the oval circuit will be redevopled) My example and a pointer on the location of the circuit. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1399973 |

Erm there is only one access point into the Oval, and (I stand to be corrected) the straights had quite a bit of angle on them being so short between the banked corners.
That makes breaking out through a wall on a straight challenging to say the least. |

Dude, that area's damn near impossible to create decent track on. There's almost nothing interesting to work with, without falling into the Phoenix 1989 trap of all 90-degree corners.
However, I came up with this 6.6 km (4.1 mi) circuit. It has 10 right-hand and 7 left-hand corners, and 4 chicanes. The longest straight just under 1 km (3,100 ft) long. Pits and paddock would be along the (bent) straight on the oval. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1400383 |

I just used the car park and put a bridge over the course so that the infield tunnel could still be used.
It's not very imaginative, but it's 1.45 miles long and the main 'straight' is 1000 yards long. To create a course using the local roads is never gonna be any good, so I just threw the 3.4km bit out of the window. |
