question about points ?

well im all new to this nascar thingy but I must say Im bitten by it and have just finished watching the 125 qualifiers for the first time ever and all i can say is we are in for one heck of a show for the 500 and I cant wait.

but i have a question..so far we have had the Bud shootout and the two 125 races.

do these races count towards championship points scores ???

or was the shootout just for quick cash and the 125's simply for setting the grid for the 500 ?

Marcus, no. Neither the Bud Shootout or the Twin 125s count for points. Same goes for The Winston at Charlotte the week before the Coca-Cola 600 (formerly known as the World 600). These races are just money paying races. The Bud Shootout and The Winston are really just exhibition races whereas the Twin 125s are used as a part of the Daytona 500 qualifying process.

Yeah. Those races are all about bucks and glory, the coveted NASCAR bragging rights.

Thanks for the Info Joe...and I guess bragging rights are very important when it comes to gaining new sponsors.

Marcus- Welcome to the everchanging world of NASCAR racing! Keep watching---you too will become an ADDICT! LOL.

Now bring on Daytona! I can't wait. I'm not a huge fan of the plate races....but I'm ready to get the season started!

BTW- what did ya'all think of the new rule changes?

Never understood the purpose of the bud shootout/busch clash...maybe a race to kick off speed weeks? Something to get the blood flowing? Considering winning a pole doesn't mean too much in WC racing.

But, the Winston is considered like the All Star game. All the past seasons race winners & race winners up to that race.

If their purpose of the Bud shootout & the 125's are to get the blood flowing---then they got their wish!

I'm ready! Bring out the green flag!

thanks Roselady , I must admit I have been watching nascar on and off for at least 4 years but ( and please dont hurt me for saying this ) never taken it all that seriously .....until now that is , last year i got right into it and Im all revved up for this year for sure.

one dissapointment I have is that my cable company (which is going broke BTW) dont show every round they only show selected rounds so i will only get to watch between 10-15 races this year ...but its better than none and I can always come here and catch up on the latest news and points and the like.

Bring on the 500 only 5 hours to go

P.S do we get a prize if we manage to spot one Craig Antill in the crowd ???????

where is the bar at Daytona im sure thats where he will be
