Arnage, the only bit of a car I touched was the wheel nut of your three wheel GP3 car. Must have met you, I was the short fat hairy one.
I quite agree that it is a wierd post. However, the middle bit overlooking the Loop must be one of the best places to view at Silverstone now. This is confirmed by a friend of mine who happened to be in Arena stand just behind us.

Many thanks to all the guys/girls on post, especially Edward, our beloved leader, Neil and my partner on crime, Tony.
A great weekend all round, even the GP.
Be back at Silverstone in 2 weeks.
Nice to meet and work with you all over the weekend and thanks for that Kipling fruit pie-very yummy. The view from the pit exit flag point is breathtaking. (IMO)

Lovely crew at Woodcote Gap, Don and Mr B Snatcher at the helm, Self and Fi on the flags, not a lot to do apart from stand in the sun wishing I had a higher factor on and falling asleep occasionally. Not forgetting having a good laugh with the rest of the Guys and Guyessess on post, smashing band of Marshals, I shall put up photies of the exellent hats when i find my upload lead

Photos of the Abbey Link Crew, the new Abbey Link flag post and the new pits construction.
If you enlarge the last photo, the new Abbey Inside flag point is at the end of the pit wall, behind the armco, not for the faint hearted!

Well done to the team at Club, not a lot to do but it was well done. Even more well done to Mark Webber, the best No 2!

Nice for our guests to have free grandstand seats at Vale, so thanks for that

It was good to make new friends and meet up with 'old' ones too, as always.
Good atmosphere on the camp site, again lots of beverage consumed. Things were quieter too which made sleeping easier, or was that the beer?

Circuit boy has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Sounds like it was a great weekend, only heard of a couple of incidents, one where a Marshal gave someone his tabard to gain access, and another caught taking photo's, if that's all then fair play to everyone.
Probably easy to spot, as they were absent for the rest of the weekend, shame they'll miss out next year as well.

Heard some talk of a couple of people being sent home for having probans tied round their waist all day too. The dutch guy with me, wearing his silly hat was popular for photographs with people on the pit walks too, and he even said he got a wave form Charlie. He didn't wear it during sessions of course

I would suggest you may be starting an urban myth here.
for large portions of the day that's how I dressed, ovies tied round waist.

Then again, I was a Post Chief who would in no way get involved with incidents. At all times away from the box during track sessions my overalls were on fully and whenever the track was active my tabard was correctly worn.

The instructions to marshals do not specify that overalls have to be worn, only that clothing should not clash with flags. I had threated to wear white to be cooler, but that got me a frosty look from the Chief observer. ha ha pun...

lifted from the pdf
Read your specific instructions, and if in doubt at any time - ASK.
You should provide:
- adequate clothing for protection against rain and sun.
- water proof protection for personal effects.
<snip>
Do not wear any bright clothing that could be confused with flag signals

As a post chief, I would have argued very strongly about dismissal of any team member for wearing personal clothing in a personal way, unless a prior warning had been given. However I would have advised people to wear their overalls correctly during track sessions, as I think would the IOs.

Quite right, hence the phrase "heard talk" - however I heard this from somebody I trust not to just make stuff up (though I'm a fairly trusting person). Posted here, out of curiosity, in case anybody else heard/saw the same thing.

We were told at briefing on Sun that two flag marshals where sent home, for both going off post while the FIA inspection was on. Not certain if this was to try and keep us in line.

Indeed...I think that's KK's arse in shot!

They were very well behaved, in fact I think some of them went to bed earlier than me which is saying something!

Edited to add, their BBQ lighting skills were a bit dodgy though

OMG - glad I worked incident then, I've had to go to work this week! Couldn't still be at Silverstone now. Roy - when do you think you WILL be sending them home? I'd like to think they'd be home for Christmas - if not, maybe we could have a whip round and send them some care parcels?

I had a great first GP on The Loop and I agree this is a great bit of track. Watched the first lap as they came through Becketts behind us and then quite slow through the Loop and fantastic acceleration down the Wellington straight.

Nothing to do except stone-kicking (well small boulders actually) and trying to stay cool in the heat. Thanks to Vicky (IO) for letting us first timers chose where to stand for the main race!

We were on Beckett's, so had the pleasure of seeing the loop.
Also for us, it was our first Brit F1, and totally enjoyed the whole weekend.
Only dealings for us was a GP3 stuck in the middle of the track,
but thanks to Post 8 for the assistance in a well executed car removal from 2 teams either side of the track.
Leaders were not impeded by yellows at all, took less than half a lap to clear the car to a safe position.
Big Thanks to Silverstone

I was on Chapel Inside down the far end just past the flag point, and to watch that happen from where we were, it looked a pretty slick operation. Very well done to all those involved.

Thirded. I know it was well appreciated by all guests - save trying to get up even earlier than us marshalling to get a decent seat! An unexpected perk, and full credit to Silverstone for it.

Thanks to all at Club for good craic all weekend - pretty quiet but at least what we did have was a proper car. Now, what will people bid me for a Williams' steering wheel?

(Joke, before someone black lists me! )
