Rallycross promises that failed...
I just had some rethinking about the Rallycross I witnessed since 1989. And was also looking into some more recent "news" and it is very noticeable that some drivers promised a entry or comeback in the sport but somehow failed to do so:
Tommy Rustad: had a 3 year plan for 2008 upwards Sollberg's: going to some things and bring Pipo motors in the sport Smerud: went from Xsara to Fiesta to nothing Etc, etc... Too bad! Last edited by 1975DCS; 26 Jul 2011 at 22:46. |

This kind of thing happens in any sport.
The econimic downturn has affected everyyone in some way, and also, people fall out, money is spent elsewhere, deals fall through. Rallycross is in decent helath right now, Finland is starting to get loads of cars, Belgium/Holland has a decent level. In fact, all are in much better health than the UK, which is sad but a refelction of the choices made by some and available to racers in the UK, where rallycross is not a budget thing anymore |

Mark Rennison, could have made it to one of the greatest European Rallycross drivers, but left the sport to eventually become one of the unknown talents in motorsport’s history.

Petter Solberg, could have made it to a multiple European Rallycross Champion – and made it to a single World Rally Champion…

In my 22 years as spectator I have seen a lot of drivers and cars come and go. Sometimes I wonder what happens to all the old cars, like the ZX and first Xsara of Hansen, probably sitting in a garage, stripped for parts or raced at things like Gatebil. It is indeed to bad that there are maybe 100 homologated Division 1 cars in all countries, while 1/4 1/3 or 1/2 is actually being driven. There are nice cars being driven in some countries, maybe not A-final material but good enough to be exciting!

Solberg has driven a car (MSE Fiesta) with in my opinion a motor from pipo's. So he makes his words true..... He never said i drive a full championship.
Also to place in this row with high exceptations: Thomas Radstrom with a Hyundai I30 |
