taster day october 22nd 2011

Hi all,
Just recieved my notification for a taster day on october 22nd at oulton park, and cant wait. Having been an avid follower of motorsport since an early age but never having been to a track event, im really looking forward to the day.
Does anybody think its worthwhile me investing in some water proof trousers as i have a jacket and boots already. many thanks

Keep ur eye on the forecast closer to the time? If you think you'll use them again if you decide marshaling isn't for you then go for it anyway. Only on my 4th meeting myself. Love it as I'm sure you will too!

You can always go for a black or dark blue pair and then you can use them in the unlikely event you don't come back to marshalling

I did my taster day at the weekend at Donington and it was great. From the marshals there it sounds like Oulton is also a great place for marshals, so I hope you have a good day.

Do you do much walking or outdoor activities? You can get waterproof overtrousers that you just slip on when its rainy, which maybe a good option.

If the forcast isn't for rain though I'd leave it till after the first day - no doubt you'll love it and be back, but on the day you can talk through with the other marshals what they wear and then choose from there - plus you get some good deals with BMMC on some marshal clothing. Now worse than getting yourself kitted out just to see when you get there its good but there's something better!

And hopefully to the world of marshalling, I am one of the oulton regulars so may have the pleasure of your company on the day


As by then it's quite autumnal at Oulton and getting dark as well by the time of curfew getting a good torch may be a wise investment as well as the waterproof trousers

and remember the sense of humour!

Just wait until you've had the taster day then, you'll be chewing their ears off until the season kicks off again in 2012.

Enthusiasm will definitely take you a long way and a sense of humour is a must. Well it is with me

In a word, YES. Call it an insurance policy. I never go with-out my wet suit to any meeting.
